More About Coach Sam

Coach Sam,
I am now a head trainer at DOF training group training program focused on developing Soccer IQ and Tactical knowledge in particular. I've been coaching for 15 years, technical training for 10 years and tactical training for 6 years.

My clients will tell you my training is unique, engaging, fun, educational... It's highly technical, physically demanding and most importantly it teaches players Soccer IQ and on/off the ball movement - making players more effective for all parts of the game.

My soccer coaching journey started at the age of 16 - player coaching for a neighborhood Corner-Kick soccer team.
I have now been coaching for 15 years mostly in the USA and was lucky to have experienced soccer in other countries;
Senegal, USA, Spain, France & Taiwan learning everywhere I went.
* In Taiwan, training men’s semi-pro team Inter-Taoyuan , and working with local youth club associate.

* In Spain, observed club youth training sessions and games in Almeria and Seville while studying abroad. I trained Senegalese kids in a southern pueblo I was staying at.

* In France, I observed and played in small sided street and pick up games.

And in Senegal, I trained kids in the neighborhood we were staying at.

In the USA I trained and coached Semi-pro players, those in college, high school teams, and club teams U19 and under.
My youngest client currently is 7 years old and my oldest 23. My eldest player was near 50 years old, training with his young daughter. We hope to get some grandparents too.

I have my US-Soccer D license and am currently working on my US-Soccer C License.

Played soccer in Senegal.
Played @ St-Paul Blackhawks
Played @St Paul Central High School
Played ODP team.
Played @University of Northwestern

Dynamic
Game realistic
Tailorable to client's.
-the typical session will be technical, tactical, physical with key tips.

Client Reviews

Coach Sam and his partner Stephen were great to work with. They are very knowledgeable and energetic. They take the time to find skills my son needed to work on and implemented them into their sessions. They helped him learn some new techniques and improve on several others. Would absolutely recommend for individual and small group training. Only reason not 5 stars is their pricing for individual training is a little high. It would be good price if both coaches were always available but often only one or the other was able to attend.

Coach Sam is a great coach, he teaches my son 1v1, 2v2, 5v5 situation. He correct my son passing and provided tip to improve.

We had a great experience with Coach Sam! He is very patient and good with kids. He also takes the time to explain the different drills, so that I can work with my son on it too. My son really enjoyed the one-on-one sessions, it really helped him physically and mentally prepare for an upcoming tournament.

So grateful for Coach Sam! In two sessions my son has learned so many new skills and is much more confident!

Coach is a fantastic coach. Balances focus on skill, soccer intelligence and fitness. We highly recommend!

Would absolutely do again! Sam meets my son at his skill level and provides instruction and understanding to promote his development. Has been wonderful to watch how quickly my son's skill has improved. Exactly what we were looking for.

My son had two one-on-one training sessions with Sam and liked them: Sam helped my son improve his passing, dribbling, and shooting skills as well as how to react in different game situations. Thank you, Sam!

Sam is fantastic to work with and has made an impact on my child’s development. Sam focuses on player development, both on the pitch and off. His passion and commitment to the game rubs off on those fortunate enough to be around him. I can’t say enough good things about Sam and what he brings to each child through the sport of soccer. Thanks for all you do.

Sam is an awesome coach. My 12 year old son looks forward to Sam’s coaching every week. He has a unique way to talk to kids and coach them without making them feel they are being coached up :-)

Sam is a great coach, my kid got training with Sam for 2 seasons and the soccer skills improved a lot, thanks Sam!

We met with Coach Sam for our first lesson. He took the time to break down skills of the game, but also the game strategies (water breaks served a purpose). The hour flew by! The next day my son was out asking me to do work on skills that Coach Sam had worked on the day before! Excited see how my son develops as a player! Looking forward to lesson #2

Coach Sam is unique ,understanding and patient when it comes to training your kids overall excellency.

Sam was amazing in our first class! I almost haven’t played a soccer in my life yet he was able to give me some confidence. Look forward to our next session!

Coach Sam has been so helpful getting our son back in soccer shape! He’s developing new skills quickly and enjoying scrimmages as well. Lots of progress in a few weeks. We’re very pleased with the program and look forward to continuing to work with Sam!

Coach Sam is a great coach, very knowledgeable and professional. Passionate about his job and wants his team to succeed. Just with one practice I learned a great amount of techniques. I recommend him

Our son has been playing and training under Sam for 8 months now. He had no idea how to play defense before his training with SAM. Now our son has a much better understanding of both Defense and Offense and can really play any position now. He also has improved on his vision of the field along with his passing. We love the movement that SAM teaches the kids vs the traditional style that we see in the USA. We love the instruction that SAM provides.

Training with Coach Sam has been a game changer! One of my boys played very conservatively and was also too unsure of himself to play outside of his regular position. Since training with Sam he’s really opened up as a player, has a much broader understanding of the game and plays looser on the field. Sam utilizes a game theory that is much different than any coaches I’ve seen and it helps the players understand space and time creating a much more fluid game play that keeps their opponent guessing. Sam is a great instructor, during practices when he sees an error or great play he’ll stop the players and walk through the play step by step and involves players in the discussion. This has been really helpful with reinforcing the training. Joining 5v5 or 6v6 play in addition to training sessions is a must to help the players put what they have learned in action. Thanks Coach Sam!!!

Coach Sam is AMAZING!!! He takes his time and teaches strategy and technique. My daughter has learned so much working with him. He is positive and encourages her to keep going. He gives excellent feedback and pushes her to keep getting better. She loves working with him because he focuses on strengths. He challenges her to learn new skills and strategies while playing. He is a great coach!

If you want revolutionize and out side the box practice here is the place. Sam will challenge you physically and mentally. My son has improved a lot under him not only technical but also tactical. He makes him think, you watch soccer differently and he said he is awaken by Sam.
Coach Sam Is wonderful! He is able to teach my child the technical skills that are needed in order for him to advance. I love his style of teaching, patience with my child + communication with me as the parent! I would HIGHLY recommend coach Sam!
Sam has been so funn to work with. He has made sure to ask us as parents what our children’s goals are to make sure he’s giving them the tools they need. We have seen a great improvement in our children’s performance and I couldn’t be more thankful for the dedication and passion Sam puts in at each training session.
Taught IQ which is not taught at other places.
Sam has been an excellent coach so far. Just a couple sessions in and Sams coaching has helped our son perform at a higher level; getting noticed by his coaches for his increased skills and tactics. We feel our son has gained more confidence in the game as well.
It helped me understand the game better
My time with Sam made me improve my on and off the ball impact and my football knowledge. I can’t lie he’s great !
he's a good coach and a good person I believe that he has more training experience and I play semi professional soccer because of his technical skill
The experience, knowledge and hard work of the couch!!!
It is and has been great! He teaches you the most efficient soccer that you can find. Hes one of the few coaches and maybe the only coach that I know who can do what he says on pitch. Ive actually played with Sam in a hispanic league and I was surprised when he actually could do what he was telling (from tactical to technical perspective). After a year or so from practicing with Sam, I would sometimes think back to it and finally realize what he was saying and how efficient it would be if I can implement that into my play. For example, stopping/turning the ball while running, which can be done fast and easy if I just put my foot in front of the ball than touching the ball multiple times to turn. There are also many tactical things I have learned such as, efficient defense by closing space efficiently and the fun of rotating positions efficiently that can fool the defender to leave space (these cant be really explained in the form of words). It may take some time to understand what Sam is saying but youll definitely get it when you keep thinking about soccer in logic. Youll learn how inefficient strong kick and strong legs are, and likewise, youll also learn how inefficient some high school, amateur, semi-pro, and even pro (mls) soccer players play. Youll learn that soccer isnt about: booting the ball to the side of field, running up and down, one-twos, crossing the ball all the time on offense, and how physically advantageous you are. It is about how efficiently you can win, and which most of the time the most efficient way is to be middle of the field than being on the side of field (which most high school coaches dont know but the success rate isnt that high when booting the ball to the side of the field). I may not be convincing, but Ive played soccer for my entire life (in semi-pro teams, youth clubs, and adult amateur leagues) and I havent seen anybody who is more tactically and technically skilled coach/player.
It’s hard to put in words but I think sam showed me unique ways to dribble and use my body which not only help me play better but also saved me a lot of energy and time.
My experience with the coach was great, he was a very nice person, he taught me and my brother dribbling, defense, and ball control. Whenever me and my brother made a mistake he was very chill about it and told us how to fix our mistakes in an understandable way and eventually we fixed our mistakes and progressed. He is definitely a 10/10 coach for me, he is very underrated but hopefully his name will spread around and everyone will know how fun his training is and how calm he is.
He teaches how to work in a team and how to handle various real game situations.
So many great drills in short period of time which helps to learn quickly and apply those knowledges in games.
I enjoyed the freedom that each player was given throughout the drill to be able to make spontaneous decisions based on the information they were given. These sort of sessions allow players to be able to solve problems in games and not always rely on information given from the coach.
It give me confidence, a good lesson about soccer, good training.
What an outstanding soccer training sessions. The focus on accurate passes and dynamic offensive movements truly elevated our gameplay. The techniques shared for warming up were refreshing and effective, setting the perfect tone for an intense and productive training. The icing on the cake was the innovative use of technology to record the session via phone and drone. This allowed us to analyze our performance, identify areas for improvement, and celebrate our successes. It was incredibly valuable to see firsthand what we were doing right and where we could fine-tune our skills. Overall, coaching style is top-notch, and the session was a perfect blend of learning, challenge, and fun. Im excited for more future sessions and cant wait to witness our progress on the field. Thank you for a fantastic soccer training experience!
What I like about the training is the the people there are friends with and the coach encourages you not to give up.
The coaches are very passionate knowledgeable about the game and provide unique training sessions focusing on detail while promoting creativity. I learned a lot in a short period of time!
Well I like everything I think coach Sam is a great coach I just like his style I like that the facts that he only care about developing
I really liked this training group. It helped me in ways both physically and mentally. I would really recommend this group.
we work on team drills like passing or 3 on 3 situation and we also work on our finishing. i liked how we did defender vs forward who get’s to the ball first and then finish.
I liked working with the dynamic offensive futbol training group because it help me grow as a player.
I like the dynamic training because it’s intense and your always moving around , so it pushes me to be better.
I like how he sets everything up, very professional and straight to the point. I like the technical ball work we do. It helps me turn quicker and have more options to play
I have a lot of fun playing soccer with this group. I also get to meet new people. I learn some cool skills form coach.
It was hard to understand at first but very effective and it helps me develop a better skill and improve my ball knowledge so I can play better in game.
I liked learning about spatial awareness and learning how to give the defense headaches when attacking
mi gusto mucho el tiempo que tenemos juntos entrenando con todos los jugadores y conociendo todos con tiempo y nosotros creamos una conexión de fútbol bien fuerte.
Dynamic offensive futbol training group had really help me improve my futbol knowledge on pitch and off.
the games we played was fun I like how he coached us Telling us were to move if we doing anything bad so we can do it better.
I like the running aspect and ball controlling. Also the passing the ball game with the cones with one each teammate was pretty good with working on control and passing
El es un exelente coach. El nos enseño a como movernos y hacer tacticas para poder ganar nuestros objectivos. Aprendi muchas cosas sobre el y el es un buen coach.
It was fun I personally enjoyed the practice and drills we did the warms weren’t to complicated. I personally think the practice was fun.
I like to work with dynamic offensive futbol because it gives me the chance to create space between me and the other team. Another reason is that it gives the player a chance to create more chances for there team overall making it more difficult for the other team to react. This is why I like this style of play, because of its fluidity and ability to make a team more prone to making goals.
Great experience for my son with developing technical skills on and off ball, speed of play, decision making and game awareness.
My son has trained with Sam for a couple of sessions now and he really appreciates his instruction and style of play. He is descriptive and patient, giving the kids the tools they need to carry out new skills. His perspective is different than other coaches we've had as well, which is definitely beneficial and leads to a well rounded player.
For reference, my son is 11 years old and playing U12 soccer. The maturity level varies quite a bit amongst players at this group. But I appreciate the fact that strategy is still taught, rather than assuming that kids aren’t smart enough to know or learn. Great trainers!
My son is 9 and plays U10 soccer. We like the instruction on not only the ball movement but the player movement. The players are taught where to move not only when they have the ball, but also when they do not have the ball and where to move to get open.
Sam has an incredible ability to break down movement on the field. He is able to explain how each player’s choices (with or without the ball) impact their teammates options. His approach improves the players’ soccer instincts and reactions. It’s a fabulous approach to coaching!
My son loves these training sessions, he is excited to go every time. The sessions are engaging with a lot of movement, Sam gives positive feedback through out the training to the athletes, the trading sessions have deepened my son’s love of soccer and tactical understanding of the game! I highly recommend these training sessions.
