More About Coach Samantha

I coached girls' AAU basketball, grades 9th-11th, for two years. Although I no longer officially coach, I attend practices with these athletes to lend a helping hand when I can. While a senior in high school, I trained two middle school girls once a week. Additionally, the past three years I have worked camps with athletes ranging from 2nd-11th grade.

I am a rising senior and the starting point guard for the Bowdoin Women's Basketball team in Brunswick, Maine. Our program is among the best DIII programs in the country; in the past two years, we have competed in DIII Women's Basketball National Championship. I graduated from Loomis Chaffee (Windsor, CT) in 2016, where my teammates and I were 4x Founders League Championships and I was named a Class A NEPSAC AllStar three times. Additionally, my senior year I was named JJ School Boy Classic All Star. I was a 5x AAU State Champion with the CT Starters. At my high school I was awarded Barbara W. Erickson Prize (for sportsmanship, 2016) and through the Connecticut AAU Organization, the CT AAU Girls' Basketball Leadership Award (2015).

I have been very fortunate that in my time as an athlete I have been able to learn from incredible skills coaches from programs like Point Guard College and I'm Possible, and trainers such as Maria Conlon (UConn 2004). Training sessions would include a variety of guard ball handling and skill work drills that I have learned throughout the years. Additionally, in each session clients should expect the incorporation of strength/quickness training in some capacity, whether it be ball pounds/ball pushups/foot work drills etc. I love to introduce simple new moves. I think its extremely important for players to understand why and how certain moves work so that they can go on to elevate their game on their own. Explaining how a hesitation and change of the direction will make a defender move, for example, will enable a player to train more effectively.
