More About Coach Ryan
Touch Shooting .com Ryan Sypkens has been training basketball players for the past 6 years on and off in the offseason as a Division 1 athlete and a professional athlete. The youngest player he has trained is 7 years old and the oldest is a professional. He is an expert shooting coach and focuses on the fundamentals of the game. In addition, Ryan has helped work a number of Elite camps such as the UC Davis elite camp. He is still building his coaching resume, but he has been mentored by world renowned skill development specialists, such as Phil Handy (Cleveland Cavaliers) and Jeremy Rusotti (Prolific Prep).
Touch Shooting .com Ryan Sypkens is a Sacramento native who has an immense passion for the game of basketball, helping others, and sharing his expertise for the greater good. Graduating from Franklin High School of Elk Grove in 2009, he was selected to the Sacramento All-Metro team before his team fell short to McClymonds high school of Oakland in the state playoffs.
Directly following his high-school career, he enrolled into UC Davis and worked his way into the starting line-up a few games into freshman season. He then went on to break the single-game, single-season, and career 3 point record at UC Davis as well as the Big West Conference career three point record. In addition, he finished #2 in 3 point percentage in all of NCAA D1 as well as #4 in 3 pointers made per game respectively.
Following his career at Davis, he went on to play professionally in South America and Tokyo, Japan.
Ryan is a shooting specialist and expert in shooting mechanics and training, as well as general basketball training. In late 2015, he launched his training company, Syp’s T.O.U.C.H. Shooting Academy, and has since been training aspiring basketball student-athletes and professionals.
Touch Shooting .com Syp's Touch currently offers 2 separate Packages:
Skills Package (Small group)
Standard booking price found in CoachUp!
Skills package focuses on developing and/or sharpening fundamentals and building a SHIFT package on top. The first step is to evaluate the player’s strengths and weaknesses and develop a comprehensive move and skill (SHIFT) package that best fits his or her size, frame, and basketball trends.
Touch Shooting Package (Individual)
Inquire for a personalized package to book!
Touch Shooting package focus specifically on the art of shooting a basketball. Client Reviews
Ethan (CoachUp client)
Ryan is the best coach my son has worked with, period. He shows a real attention to detail and shows my son subtle things he can do to improve his shot, get his shot off against bigger defenders, make a move more effectively, etc. I can think of multiple things Ryan has shown him that no other coach has suggested, that my son now uses regularly and effectively in games. Ryan does a good job of teaching and reinforcing the fundamentals for shooting in particular, but he also gives him new stuff to work on every session--its never boring. My son is always excited to go to a session, and is disappointed if he can't go. I highly recommend Ryan to any players that want to get better.
Love (CoachUp client)
Coach Ryan was very attentive and engaged. He was able to quickly assess my son's abilities and crafted an individualized program on the spot. It was only the first session, yet we are very hopeful for what's to come. Thanks Coach.
Coleen (CoachUp client)
So glad we found Coach Ryan. We're excited to see how this progresses. Only 2 sessions and he's already made a difference.
Brittany Shine (UC Berekely "Cal Bears", Pro Basketball Player -- Egypt) (Testimonial)
I enjoy working out with Ryan Sypkens . His high intensity workouts emphasize on shooting the ball with the same form and mechanics every time , along with awesome drills that are very "game like." His shooting expertise has helped me improve and perfect my shooting mechanics and accuracy in game speed environments.
Ari Stewart (USC, Professional Basketball player Sandringham Sabers, Australia) (Testimonial)
My name is Ari Stewart, I'm 25 years old and I play basketball professionally overseas for a living. It's taken a lot of hard work to get to where I am and I still have a lot more work in order to reach my ultimate dreams. Needless to say, you need to be pushed to your maximum on a regular basis. Having someone to critique what you are doing and to point out your mistakes is vital for improvement, especially at the professional level. Ryan has been that person for me in the Sacramento area. He is very rich in knowledge in terms of the game of basketball and has played at a very high level in college and professionally overseas. With his game experience, he knows exactly what you need to work on to produce at a high level and to meet expectations. I couldn't ask for anyone better to train me and get me ready for my job. I am currently leading my team in Australia in points and rebounds, and a large amount of my success so far this year is credited to my off season habits.
John Florveus (University of Georgia/Pro Basketballball Player -- Tokyo Cinq Reves) (Testimonial)
Ryan is one of the best shooters I have ever been around. He was my teammate and works super hard. He actually helped me with the mechanics of my shot every day after practice was over, he would put up extra shots with me no matter what. He had the best footwork on the team and was always ready to shoot when I passed him the ball. Great guy and great player.
Coach Jesse Formaker (Franklin High School, Elk Grove) (Testimonial)
As a high school player, Ryan was an incredibly motivated and hard worker. He put in a ton of time outside of our scheduled events working on his skills. We bought an automated shooting machine during before his senior year and he and I spent hours upon hours working on that machine. No matter how much time we put in, he always wanted to put in more time and work. He was also a tremendous defender. He was able to defend bigger, stronger players, and smaller, quicker players. During his junior and senior seasons we always had him guard the best player on the opposing team, unless they were a post player. Most players in high school really focus on the offensive end of the floor, but Ryan was also a great defender and put a lot of effort into his defensive assignments. In his senior season he really grew into a leader and was the primary reason for our great playoff run that year. He had a span of games through the section and Nor-Cal playoffs where he took his game to another level. The first half he played against Folsom during the section championship game was one of the best halves of basketball ever played by any player I coached. Ryan was an incredibly motivated player who worked tirelessly at his skills. I think he would be the perfect candidate to teach young players the skills, work ethic, and mindset required to be successful at the highest levels.
Coach Duane Kouba (UC Davis) (Testimonial)
I served for 18 years under 4 different head coaches at UC Davis, as men's basketball transitioned from DII to DI. During that time our teams won 4 conference championships and one national championship. I have gotten to know, coach, and mentor many players with a wide range of skills and attitudes. Ryan Sypkens was one of those players I have known him since he played in high school. I watched him mature personally, work hard in the classroom, and develop into the best three-point shooter in Big West history. I know his character extremely well. He is a student of the game, working hard during practices, but especially working on his game outside of practice-- putting in the extra time to improve his shooting, dribbling, ball handling, and strength and conditioning. No other player dedicated more time to improve his game than Ryan Sypkens. He is in a class by himself. He is an old-school gym rat. And that's the ultimate compliment." - Coach Duane Kouba (UC Davis)
