More About Coach Ryan
I have experience giving private lessons, coaching camps and coaching teams. I specialize in teaching the fundamentals of the game with an emphasis in Pitching, Hitting, and Fielding. I can also teach girls softball hitting and fielding.
I have worked for Central Illinois Athletic Academy, Batter Up Training Center, Playball USA, Northshore Baseball Academy, and the Mount Prospect Mavericks. I can coach from T-ball through 12th grade. I currently give baseball/fitness lessons back home in Chicago outside during the summers, indoors at BASH Sports Academy in Chicago year round, as well as lessons at the Batter Up Training Center in Bloomington, IL. I am ASEP certified in the IHSA Coaching Baseball Technical and Tactical Skills, IHSA Sports First Aid, IHSA Coaching Principles, and the IHSA State By-Laws.
I am a former college baseball player at Parkland College in Champaign, IL. I committed to play there the November of my Senior year (2012). I was a pitcher only, but was a primary infielder my whole life. I am still active in the world of baseball as I give lessons year round. The summer of 2015 I played baseball out in Myrtle Beach, SC as a part of the Surfside Sting Rays in the Beach Collegiate Baseball League. I have played baseball in many states, traveling to states such as Florida, Virginia, Georgia, New York, South Carolina, and many others in the Great Lakes/Central US region. My senior year of high school I received the Cy Young Award for the best pitcher in our organization. I was the ACE on the staff and had a record of 5-2 my senior year. I have also received the Cal Ripken Award for being a very humble, yet strong player both on and off the field.
My goal for your son is to take the first lesson and really evaluate them based on their age and performance. I will be taking many notes both mental and physical to best help them in the future. We will start each lesson with a quick warm up to ensure that they do not get hurt. Then we will begin with drills and build up during a lesson. As the lessons progress throughout the weeks, we will go into more technical detail of their mechanics. I also expect that outside of the lessons, that the athlete works on what we went over before his next lesson. Lessons can last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.
