Hitting- Light Stretch to start. Look at dry swing mechanics and make sure that the player is using legs first, staying inside the baseball, getting full extension of the hands and finishing their swing. Move on to tee work to adjust swing to inside, middle, and outside pitches. Work to soft toss to focus on timing, staying back and finishing through the ball. Next step is to work front toss to continue working on proper timing and keeping eyes focused on seeing the ball come from the front. Final step is to work on live hitting from the full distance based on age. This will use all fundamentals of the swing to show staying back, staying through the ball, using legs first and getting good extension of the hands to generate power and hit the ball well.

Pitching- Light Stretch to warm up, then go into running starts, falling starts, and knee on the ground starts to focus on powerful legs. Next step is to work a throwing progression starting from one knee on the ground using top half to get full extension of arms, tucking the glove into the arm pit, finishing with throwing arm over the foot and finishing down. Now to standing and feet "stuck in the mud" working the hips and the upper half to generate more velocity and maintain proper mechanics. Then use back and forth rockers to start with the legs first and continuing to use upper half, all while using proper mechanics to throw strikes with velocity. The last step in the throwing progression will be to use long toss to fully use body to throw at full power. I would then use a 'Cliff Lee' Drill to focus on proper mechanics in full detail of each body movement. The next steps to the session would depend on which parts of the mechanics the player needs to develop, whether it be not using the legs, not following through, falling off to the side, spiking the ball, or not being able to throw a fastball and off speed pitches. After we focus on these drills I would have the player throw a 15-20 pitch bullpen to fully see how this player will throw strikes consistently with accuracy and velocity and what more we will need to work on.

My son really likes Ryan as his personal coach. Ryan was able to connect with my son and really help drill in the fundamentals. Even after the first lesson his skills have improved greatly. Ryan is very responsive with the Coach Up app and was early to our lesson. I look forward to many more lessons from Ryan.

Also, the attention to detail in Coach Ryan’s lesson plan was truly helpful in getting my son started on the right track. We saw improvement in just his first lesson and will be using Coach Ryan in the future!

Extremely knowledgeable with what seems to be a lot of experience for his age. No doubt that Ryan knows baseball mechanics and technique. There was no hesitation in scheduling additional workouts with him. I highly recommend him.
