More About Coach Ross

Hello, My name is Ross and I live in Michigan in the Detroit Metropolitan Area.
I began golfing in the mid 80's while working for the Post Office. My view about golf before then was "who in their right mind can hit this little ball and then chase after it and hit it again". Well my mind was changed quickly as I found that it brought fun and relaxation to my life.

As the years went on I set up and ran a golf league for 13 years as President and Secretary (at the same time). There I had to deal with not only weekly match up of players, but I also had to deal with the vast amount rules that go along with the game of golf. Running a golf league also had me learning how to set up players by averages and also by approved handicaps. After that time of running a league I wanted to get involved in other golfing venues. I joined The Amateur Tour of America that operated in the Detroit area and stayed active playing for about 3 or 4 years.

Then in 2007 I attended the golf school - United States Golf Teachers Federation and became a Level 2 Golf Instructor.

Since 2007 I have had many students ranging in ages from 10 to 69. My most resent student is on the Garden City High school golf team. He has improved a great deal since taking lessons with me and will be one of my students again this fall.

During my youth I swam competitively since I was in the 5th grade until I graduated high school. When I got out of the Navy I started playing softball and played that until I started playing golf. When I start something I go all in no mater what.

As a Beginner Golfer have you every wondered what it was like to hit a golf ball? Have you ever wanted to get into a sport for fun or for competition? Well golf could be that sport for you. I will start you out with the basics 1) The Grip, 2) The Stance (your feet position), 3) The Swing path (the take away, the down swing, and the follow through).
As a player that has been playing the game awhile, do you have a problem with your golf game? Would you like the chance to take your game to the next level? Let me take a look at what you are doing, and see if there are some things I can suggest, that you can change in your swing to help you to take that next step. I will look at everything from set up to follow through.

Coach Ross is very knowledgeable and helpful. He taught me many techniques to practice to help me become more consistent. Our session was informative and his feedback afterwards will go a long way to making me a better golfer. I look forward to our next session.

Some of the testimonials are from my business website, those submitted by me
I hired Ross to fix my game. Ross rebuilt my swing from addressing the ball through the follow through. He broke my swing down to multiple segments and provided valuable advice throughout the reconstruction of my swing. I recommend Ross to anyone who wants to improve their game.
Ross provided excellent beginning instruction for my 10 year old daughter. She continues to love the game and wants to take more lessons from Ross in the future. She felt very comfortable with him and appreciated his ability to put golf in to terms she could easily understand.
Ross Smith came to our certification course in 2007, and I was impressed with his knowledge and passion for the game. He worked hard that week to gain his certification, and excelled on the teaching tests. Those who are looking for a quality learning experience will be very happy with Ross.
One thing I can honestly say about Ross is he actually knows what he is talking about. He understands the golf swing and truly cares about the results you have out on the course after his instruction. His message is simple, and genuine. By taking lessons with Ross, he has improved my game and made golf fun for me. I would recommend Ross Smith as a golf instructor for anyone, who wants to improve his or her game at any age, young or old. I was 14 when he started instructing me and I feel it has made a difference and I look forward to working with him in the future. Thank you Mr. Smith!
