More About Coach Rosan

"I have been coaching basketball and volleyball players for 9 years, ranging from 9 years old to 45 years old. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, and moved to Florida when I was 15 years old. During my college career, I played under a scholarship while pursuing my passion for the sport.
Throughout my career, I played as a point guard, which was one of the most challenging positions for me. Through hard work and dedication, I became one of the best in that position. I was nominated as an All-American in my last year of high school, which was a perfect way to conclude that chapter of my life. My coaching career began after graduating from high school. I played college volleyball at the Division 1 level for Miami Dade College.
I started coaching young children at the age of 10, and later transitioned to coaching middle school students at Nova University School. I am currently the Head Junior Varsity Volleyball coach and Head Middle Basketball coach at the school. I enjoy teaching both girls and boys, and I am passionate about developing young athletes aged 9 to 18 who show potential and love for the sport as much as I do.
I majored in psychology, which allows me to understand and teach the foundation of team effort."

One of my biggest awards was in 2007 during my senior year at Immaculate La Salle High School. I received the All-American title as a point guard. It felt great, and I realized how important it is to work hard and dream big. Remember, don't wish it were easier; wish you were better. A little bit about myself: I started playing basketball when I was 9 years old in my home country of Puerto Rico. I faced the challenge of adjusting to a new activity, and now I understand why many kids feel confused or undecided about their choices. It's all about getting used to it once you know how badly you want it. I chose basketball and fell in love with it because I saw myself overcoming challenges during each practice. It's an awesome feeling to see yourself improve and become more competitive each time.

Due to my hard work, I was recruited by a coach from Miami to attend the high school that later awarded me. Proud of our team effort, my coach reinforced the importance of maintaining this foundation. That's why I love coaching and aim to make others feel the same. My goal is to help young players experience a high level of basketball, which I believe is a fantastic team sport just like volleyball. It requires effort, commitment, and passion. I believe anyone can reach high school and take that big step towards improvement and aiming for a high level if they truly try.

"I first like to work on 1-1 warm-up and execute a couple of dynamic stretching exercises, which are crucial for a good and healthy start. Quick drills that involve speed and footwork are always necessary for sports. To become familiar with distances and plays, I like to use my equipment to create game-like situations.

Each player requires a session tailored to their specific needs. My priority is to ask for commitment. Once players come to us coaches sure of what they want, we will be ready to prepare them for the next step. It is very important to prioritize and respect the needs and goals of our clients in private sessions. Therefore, to enhance the athlete's performance, we need to identify the most needed adjustments, provide drills specific to the client, and prioritize their success.

Basketball is a highly competitive sport that involves fast footwork and high resistance to impact. More than just a basketball lesson, I am dedicated to teaching young players the foundational basics of preparation for handling pressure both on and off the court. Strategies for adapting to new methods and adjusting to their own pressures are key to success.

It is also crucial to reinforce the importance of overcoming challenges during each practice session. I believe that everything you do should have a purpose, and I focus on holding players accountable. Effective communication is essential for improving methods and achieving success.
The teaching process for kids and even older athletes is vital for them to understand the importance of holding themselves accountable for their dreams and goals. It all begins with picking up a ball and taking a shot at the basket. As simple as it may sound, it is about developing personality and consistency in focusing on achieving their goals."
