More About Coach Ron

I am a former NBA and College basketball coach with over 20 years of coaching experience. My coaching career started in the NBA with the Detroit Pistons in which I coached future hall of fame players such as Chauncey Billups, Jerry Stackhouse, Richard Hamilton, and Ben Wallace. After being part of the Detroit Pistons coaching staff, I joined the Toronto Raptors coaching staff that featured recently retired Chris Bosh who just got his number retired with the Miami Heat. After that great experience, I joined the Indiana Pacers coaching staff that featured great NBA players such Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson. Following my experience with Indiana Pacers, I rejoined the Detroit Pistons coaching staff and coached Allen Iverson and Rasheed Wallace. My NBA coaching career concluded with being a part of the Philadelphia 76ers coaching staff, and coaching a NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala. Most recently, I was a part of the Florida Atlantic Men's Basketball coaching staff where we currently have 4 players playing professional basketball, and I recruited and trained college student-athletes to reach their expectations. My goal with any athlete that I train is to make sure that they met their expectations, fulfill their dream in getting a scholarship, and reduce any pain associated with the game of basketball.

Overcoming the pain of tearing my ACL in both knees playing high school basketball, I was able to walk-on the University of Michigan Men's basketball team. After my freshmen year, I earned a scholarship and was on the scholarship my last three years of my college basketball career.

With every athlete that I train, my primary focus is on changing their mindset. An athlete can only reach their expectations with a positive mindset. I teach all of my athletes the power of positive affirmations and we take those positive affirmations to the court. Every drill that we do is centered around trying the mind to handle game like situations. The start of any sessions will require focus on certain aspect of the game of basketball starting with doing certain skills perfect and numerous time perfectly. Once we have mastered certain skills perfectly, we move to putting the athlete in game like situations on the court. We will use cones for the athlete can visualize the defense as the athlete is performing a skill on the court.
