More About Coach Roman

Full time coaching since 2013, after retiring from ATP/ITF circuit and part time coaching on and off while I was in college and on the tour. I've worked with many great coaches before and I implement many of their teachings with my own experience and knowledge of the game. I'm a USPTA elite pro.

I played tennis at many different levels. In juniors I played in Eastern Europe. After moving to the US, I played in community college where I didn't lose a match and then transferred to D1 University of Portland where I was the team's MVP every single year. After college, I played professionally from 2005 to 2013 achieving top 200 ATP ranking in singles and doubles. I was also selected to represent my native country Moldova in Davis Cup in many ties between 2006-2013. In 2010 I participated in club tennis in Holland and in 2011 I was recruited to play in World Team Tennis for St. Louis Aces. I'm proud of my achievements given that I had a very little financial help in the beginning of my career and for the most part achieved everything with hard work and dedication. I value those qualities very much and hope to work with students who do the same.

First, I ask my clients about their game and see what they like and don't like about it and what is the ultimate goal. I ask the client what shot he or she wants to work on and after hitting for a minute or two , I try to figure out what's wrong with it and how to make it better. I use progression method: hand feed, feed from the distance, different spins, speeds, heights and live hitting depending on the client's level and what we are working on. Some clients don't like working on the technique, then we can always work on footwork, game strategy, mental aspect of the game or just rally the ball back and forth and work on consistency. No matter the level, I always seem to find areas for improvement and my clients start seeing the progress in their game very soon.
P.S. The lesson package discount will only be given at the Pembroke Lakes Golf and Racquet.

Look no further. I used to play a lot of tennis and after a 16 year hiatus I wanted to get back to the courts. My timing and technique were lost. After just my first session with Coach Roman I felt a lot more confident in my shots. He really stresses technique and helps you gain that timing back. Being a professional player himself, his expertise on the game is extraordinary. He has a good eye and can pick up small details and teaches you how to correct them. I would 100% recommend Coach Roman. No matter if you're a pro or just starting to hold your first racquet, he is able to adapt to that type of play to make you feel comfortable but at the same time challenging you to get better. I could keep going on and on and on but this is taking some of my time that I could be using on another session with Coach Roman.

An honor to get to work with a real professional like Roman. Very knowledgeable and extremely helpful . Looking forward to continue working on my game with him. And if you want to get your game to the next level I highly recommend Roman !

I like playing tennis with Roman when I am home in South Florida. He is very passionate about the game. I always get a good and productive workout with him. Not only he is a great hitting partner but he also has a good eye and he can give a good technical advice. Any junior or ATP pro could benefit from training with him and his coaching.
I believe a player like Roman, who has played at every level of competition: Division 1 college tennis, futures, Challengers, Tour events, Davis Cup and Grand Slams can relate to nearly anything a player who is looking for help with their game could possibly be going through.
