More About Coach Robby
I've coached for Tampabay Rowdies youth and Tampa Bay United FC youth academy, which is a feeder academy for the Rowdies. With the Rowdies/TBU, I've managed teams (U-8 and U-10 teams). I've assisted in planning and running joint sessions for U-12 and U-16. I've coached U-12 (Girls) for the Brooksville F.C club soccer, Brooksville, FL. I've coached for Dallas Christian School (Head coach for boys varsity from 2022 to 2024). I have my U.S Soccer Federation F License. I've taught from grassroots soccer (kids from 5 yrs and up) to high school (18-year-olds).
I have played soccer (football) since I was 10. I played on the Island of Dominica. I played all through high school and in community college. I then went on to play for my hometown (Woodbridge Bay) for about 10 years. This is the island-wide amateur professional league, from which they select national team players. I also played in Trinidad and had tryouts for Joe Public FC. Moving to the States, I always played in adult leagues (Florida, Tennessee, and now Texas). I
A typical session with me is built around energy, engagement, and intentional development—no standing around, no wasted time, and every player getting meaningful touches on the ball.
What a Typical Session Looks Like
1. Dynamic Warm-Up (5–10 minutes)
We start immediately—no long talks. Players are moving right away with the ball at their feet. This might include:
Ball mastery (dribbling, turns, touches)
Coordination and agility movements
Light technical repetition to get comfortable on the ball
2. Technical Development (10–15 minutes)
This is where I focus on core skills:
Dribbling under control and at speed
Passing and receiving (first touch emphasis)
Finishing technique (depending on age group)
I keep lines short or eliminate them entirely. Players are constantly active, getting a high number of reps.
3. Applied Drills / Small-Sided Activities (15–25 minutes)
We then move into more game-like scenarios:
1v1, 2v1, 3v2 situations
Possession-based games
Decision-making under pressure
This is where players learn how to apply their skills in realistic situations. I’ll often coach “in the moment” with quick, high-energy feedback.
My Coaching Focus
High Energy Environment: I bring intensity and expect players to match it. Sessions move quickly, and players are always involved. No Standing Around: I design sessions so every player is active—more touches, more decisions, more development.
Individual Development: While team concepts matter, I put a big emphasis on helping each player improve their specific weaknesses and strengths. I’ll give individual feedback during and after drills so players know exactly what to work on. I will also give feedback to parents so that they can help them with simple habits to continue their development at home.
Confidence & Creativity: I encourage players to take risks, try moves, and learn from mistakes rather than play it safe.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: help every player leave the session better than they came in—technically, mentally, and confidently.
