More About Coach Rick
I have been coaching baseball in the El Paso area for the last 9 years. Six of those have come as the varsity assistant at Americas High School. I have also helped run walk-on tryouts at El Paso Community College as well as been an instructor at 2 University of New Mexico Lobo team camps. My responsibilities at Americas are infielders and hitters. Several of my former players have gone on to play at a high level in college.
As a player, I was a shortstop at Ysleta High School ('96-98), El Paso Community College ('99-00), and Northwestern State University (LA) ('01-02). I was also an infielder for the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Collegiate Baseball League (summer '01). I signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers and played one season for the Pioneer League champions Great Falls Dodgers in 2002 before I hung 'em up. I have earned a handful all-conference shortstop awards and team MVP awards in college.
As for fastpitch softball, I have been playing in men's fastpitch leagues in El Paso and Juarez for almost 20 years. I have also played in numerous highly competitive tournaments in Texas and Mexico versus the best players in North America and Australia.
My coaching strength is infield and hitting mechanics. As a former player, there is a lot that I bring to the table that can help you get to that next level. As a high school teacher, I have become an excellent communicator of my knowledge.
Most of my sessions involve drills that break down a process (fielding a ground ball, throwing to first, double plays, a full swing, etc.). By breaking it down, we can dominate each individual movement and put it all together to master the entire process.

Client Reviews
John (CoachUp client)
We highly recommend Coach Rick. This being my daughter`s first year in playing softball, because of coach Rick`s patience and detailed batting training, my daughter is ready for the season. We noticed a big improvement with the first session and my daughter just got better with the forth and final session. Thank you coach Rick for your time and dedication.
