More About Coach Ray

I’ve been playing both basketball and football for all of my life! My experience coaching dates back to about 7 years ago when I had a chance to coach a youth basketball team to a championship title. I’ve also trained high school athletes in annual Skills Clinics. I find joy in helping players achieve their personal goals, that is why I decided to start individual training lessons! I typically work with ages 12+ But I am on a mission to help as many young athletes as I can, so if you’re serious about taking you or your child’s game to the next level; I would love to be part of your athletic growth!

I grew up into an athletic family. All throughout grade school I was a standout athlete in both basketball and football. In high school I received All State honors in both sports and got to travel to over 10 different states to play in well known AAU Basketball tournaments! I also had the chance to play with and against many of our NBA players of today. As a senior in high school i averaged over 25 ppg and 6 apg playing against the best talent in the Detroit area.

Upon graduating high school, I had scholarship offers in both sports. I chose to play football at Eastern Michigan University where I played Defense back and received MVP honors. Basketball has and always will be my first love! I know that with my experience and understanding of the game, I can help athletes get to that next level.

I believe in building all around better athletes by practicing game like movements. Before any session, I find out what my client wants to get out of the training. Once we have that down, I create the drills that are geared towards increasing their strengths while building on their weaknesses! Depending on the client, the complexity of the session will vary. But for all of my clients, come ready to work! Here are a just a few aspects of the game you can expect to learn:

• Ball handling - In space/In traffic
• Shooting - Spot up/Off the dribble
• Triple threat/Protecting the ball
• Creating space
• Pick and Roll
• Finishing through contact
• Off Hand strength
