More About Coach Pablo
I coached elementary and middle school goalkeepers for two years during undergrad in Long Beach, working directly with young players on foundational technique. Beyond that formal role, I bring a strong personal training background as a goalkeeper myself — D1 high school soccer, two years with the Cape Breton (Nova Scotia) Selects team in Canada, and camps at Duke and Rice — which I translate directly into how I teach. Open to teach all ages. I don't hold a formal coaching certification.
Played goalkeeper in Colombia's D1 high school soccer league, then two years with the Cape Breton (Nova Scotia) Selects team in Canada. Trained at elite camps at Duke University and Rice University, plus one-on-one coaching from high-level personal trainers. Currently play goalkeeper for Parsons' varsity competitive club team in NYC.
Every session opens with a 10–15 minute warm-up focused on footwork and ball-handling — quick feet drills, catching technique, and basic ball familiarity to get sharp before the harder work starts. From there, we move into technical work on whatever the player needs most: diving technique and shot-stopping angles, positioning and shot-stopping. Ball distribution and use of the feet, or reading the game and organizing the defense in front of you. I break each skill down into its component parts first, then rebuild it into full-speed reps so the mechanics actually hold up under pressure. The second half of the session shifts into game-realistic scenarios — 1v1s, breakaways, crosses into the box — so what's practiced in isolation gets tested the way it actually shows up in a match. Every plan is adjusted to the player's age, current skill level, and conditioning goals of what they specifically want to improve.
