More About Coach Oscar
I bring over a decade of boxing coaching experience, working with athletes of different ages, skill levels, and goals. I spent approximately six years coaching at the PAL Boxing Gym in South Salt Lake City.
I also founded the Boxing Club at the University of Utah, where I currently continue to coach. For the past five-plus years, I’ve also been providing private boxing coaching, helping athletes develop strong fundamentals, proper technique, footwork, defense, conditioning, and overall boxing IQ.
My coaching approach is built around teaching boxing the right way—from the ground up. Whether you’re a complete beginner learning the sport, training for fitness and confidence, or an experienced boxer looking to sharpen your skills, every session is tailored to your individual level and goals.
While I didn’t pursue a lengthy amateur or professional boxing career, my passion for boxing comes from learning the science behind boxing. —breaking down technique, movement, timing, defense, strategy, and training methods to help athletes perform at their best.
I have an extensive athletic background, competing in multiple sports and earning championship victories during my high school years. Throughout my coaching career, I’ve helped athletes achieve multiple victories in boxing competitions and have also worked with professional MMA fighters to develop and sharpen their boxing and striking skills.
My coaching is also backed by a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science and more than 10 years of experience working as an Exercise Specialist in a hospital setting. This background has given me a strong understanding of human movement, exercise physiology, conditioning, and proper training principles that I incorporate into my coaching.
Over the years, I’ve trained alongside and learned from experienced boxers and coaches while continuously studying the craft. I’ve combined that knowledge with my education and professional experience to develop a detailed, structured coaching approach that makes complex boxing concepts easier to understand and apply.
My goal is to teach athletes not only what to do, but why and when to do it—developing smarter, more technical, confident, and well-conditioned fighters.
The classes are one hour. 10 min warmup start, 5 min cool down finish. 45 mins of boxing techniques, footwork, defense drills, mitt work and more.
