More About Coach Omar
I have been coaching private and small group sessions for the past 3 years working with individuals from the ages of 8-17. As a USSF licensed coach having played in a professional club for 4+ years I have learned from high level UEFA licensed coaches which has facilitated the development of my strong philosophy and understanding of youth development and coaching.
Currently I am a Division 1 soccer player at the George Washington University. Prior to moving to Washington DC, I spent 3 years playing abroad in Abu Dhabi, UAE at the professional club Al Jazira FC. I progressed through the U17s, U19s, U21s and even trained with the reserves on multiple occasions. Playing at this level provided me the opportunity to play with and learn from players who have played at the very top level of world soccer. This included former Premier League, MLS and World Cup players.
I provide personalized, one-on-one soccer training sessions centered around the players' goals. Weather that is recreational sport, progressing through academy pathways, playing collegially or playing professionally, my unique experience as a US citizen who has played internationally, allows me to draw on my experience and approach each session with attention to detail, commitment and a professional attitude.
The initial meeting with the client will consist of a conversation of the clients goals followed by a comprehensive assessment of the player. A typical session will nearly always start will some form of ball mastery. I believe a strong technical foundation is essential to any player regardless of their position. From there the rest of the session will consist of position specific, goal oriented drills that suit the clients requests. Moreover, the exercises that are conducted may not directly address the clients goals but will introduce habits and techniques that will indirectly support the athlete. For example, if a striker wants to score more goals, of course the bulk of the session will consist of finishing, but smaller details will be reinforced such as first touch directionality, making space and timing of runs, all of which will contribute to scoring more goals.
Moreover, I also coach S&C and have programs that I create based on my experience and I leverage my experience to design personalized programs focused on specific traits like explosive power, elite speed, etc. I personally guide youth players through every movement to ensure proper form and a safe environment for physical growth. By instilling "pro-standard" habits and injury prevention techniques, I prepare athletes for the physical demands of high-level soccer.
