More About Coach Nolan
I have experience coaching athletes ranging from youth to professional levels, working on speed, power, and strength development. I have coached athletes from a wide variety of sports and disciplines from lacrosse to track and field to crossfit. I have worked independently, through LA Fitness as a personal trainer, and with an organization coaching track and field. I work with all ages, but specialize in development of high school age athletes specifically those trying to make it to the next level. I am certified through ISSA as a certified personal trainer, but all my experience comes from practical, hands on work in environments ranging from casual to "competitive" gyms, Division 1 NCAA weight rooms, and hands on experience with athletes.
I am a current professional sprinter for Team Philippines, and previously was a Division 1 sprinter at UC San Diego. While at UC San Diego, I competed at the highest level of competition, and was the 100m school record holder. Transitioning to the professional side, I was the 2023 Philippines National Champion in the 100m, and finalist for the 200m as well. I currently train with an elite group of professional sprinters, in a long term preparation cycle for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
A client can expect a well rounded plan from me, with day to day sessions varying depending on client needs. I heavily emphasize proper bio-mechanical movement, meaning proper execution of any movement, as that is the basis of athletic performance. I will never have an athlete do meaningless work, as I believe that everything should have a purpose. Going along with this, I make an effort to explain everything I do to both athletes and parents when applicable, so that there is an understanding of "why" we do certain things. I believe that an athlete should always question (within reason) what they are doing, as becoming an advocate of oneself is the best way to excel, both in sports and in life. There will be an equal focus of movement based work such as sprints, drills, and conditioning workouts as well as strengthening exercises, weight room development, and injury prevention. A typical day would follow the format of "warmup" -> "drills" -> "main workout (either on the track/field or weight room" -> "supporting exercises" -> "cooldown/recovery."
