More About Coach Nicolas
My experience in coaching baseball has been with age groups 9-12. The coaching I have done thus far has been strictly private group infield/hitting lessons as well as individual lessons. The young men I have coached have been involved in Little League, Pony baseball, and travel ball.
My athletic accomplishments/experience in high school include a 4 year Varsity letter at Aliso Niguel High School and Servite High school, 2- time scholar athlete, and 2 time All-Trinity League Honorable Mention. After High School I spent 2 years playing at Cal State Northridge (Div. 1) on scholarship under Head Coach Matt Curtis, and 2 years playing at Cal State Los Angeles (Div. 2) on scholarship as well under Head Coach Vince Beringhele . During my entire baseball career I have been primarily an infielder, but have played outfield as well.
In a typical session, a client can expect work focused on the quality and fundamentals that creates good habits, rather than high volume which causes fatigue, ultimately creating bad habits. Every session would start out with working on the fundamentals. For example, a fielding session would include drills such as playing catch, various footwork drills, and another fundamental drill based upon the position of the player. We would then progress into more specific drills that work on particular skills and techniques such as cone drills, fielding specific types of ground balls, etc. Every workout will end will a “putting it all together” phase where we will just do mass ground balls/fly balls, or for hitting, letting it loose.
