More About Coach Nick
I’ve trained both boys and girls from ages 6-17 who were in elementary school, middle school, high school and college. I’ve also worked at the Student Athlete Lab Corporation training young kids while focusing on technique, basketball IQ, and teamwork. The first 2 years of my Division I Collegiate Basketball career, I was playing at Loyola Marymount University. During the summer I helped coach at basketball camps with kids of all ages from all over the country. I had my own team of kids and was responsible for training and entertaining them for the whole day, each day of camp. As I transferred schools and went to the University of South Alabama, I continued to participate in camps and train kids. Here we did overnight camps where we had more responsibility for the kids, including taking them to lunch and to and from the gym. After college, I played (and continue to play) professionally overseas. During the off-seasons, I came home and trained about 7 kids independently, aged 12-17. This current off-season I joined CoachUp to expand my client reach and grow my business. My father, who once played professionally as well, became a coach when I was young and started training myself and my brother. Over the years, through his numerous coaching experiences, I have learned very much about what it takes to teach true basketball and improve players. I have been able to get my feet wet coaching and look forward to working one-on-one with clients to share my knowledge and experience of the game.
Windward High School: 2009 CIF Champions and 2x State Champions (2009 & 2011)
Division 1 College Basketball: at Loyola Marymount University (2012-2014) & University South Alabama (2014-2017)
Professional Career: My rookie year I played for Al Arabi in Qatar (Qatar Basketball Federation). I averaged 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. While there I helped lead the team to the first League Championship in 24 years and also an Amir Cup Championship where I was leading scorer averaging 30 points with 8.8 rebounds. At the end of the season I won 1st team All Import, 1st Team All League, and Forward of the Year. I had also won Player of the Week 6 times throughout the season.
Other countries I've played in: China, Brunei, Saudi Arabia.
Each client is an individual with individual goals and strengths. In order to properly train clients and improve skills, I like to develop a plan of drills and techniques specific to each athlete. Typically I like to do a basic warm up get the body going. Then start doing some stretches and then get into some drills. Some workouts will be in the gym, but I also like to use the sand dunes, parks, and other local locations to create a more diversified workout plan.
