More About Coach Nick

I did a coaching internship for one year at the community school of Davidson high school before going on to continue my career at the collegiate level at Guilford College. After playing for two seasons I stepped into an assistant coaching opportunity with women's team at Guilford. I have been with them for one season and we won the ODAC championship this past season. I have worked with high school and collegiate athletes and am looking to work with elementary, middle school, or high school athletes who want to play at the next level.

I played three years of varsity basketball at the community school of Davidson and earned most improved player two seasons in a row and was a starter my entire career. I had a knee injury that required me to sit out my senior year before going on to play at guilford college for two seasons. I also currently am employed by the charlotte hornets as a coach and help out when I can.

My session plan will greatly depend on the athlete I'm working with! ( age, current level of play, goals of player/parent ect.) I would like to get as much information about what their goals are, then I can begin to help them accomplish those goals! For all ages, I do begin every session with a 10-15 dynamic warm up included with a speed and agility ladder with multiple footwork combinations to get the body and muscles warmed up. After that, I typically go into ball handling combos and two ball handling for about 5-10 minutes depending on players current skill level and player or parent goals. Then I would allow two minutes for water break then into catch, triple threat, rip through dribble layup and pull up jumpers from both wings, corners, and top of the key for about 10 minutes. Next is DEFENSE! Big emphasis in my sessions because it's one of the most important keys to being able to play at the next level. I assess free throw form at the beginning or end to make sure they are practicing those the correct way! That is how a typical session would look but of course would change based on players current skill level and long term goals and also parent goals for their child.

Client Reviews

My son was comfortable talking to Nick, and I could tell he was learning and having fun. Nick has a great and encouraging attitude, so I know he's the person for my son to learn from.

We asked Coach Nick to focus on some specific areas of improvement for our son and he delivered. The game/player knowledge shared was extremely helpful. The drills selected for every practice were right on point. Coach Nick exceeded our expectations.

Coach Nick was great. My daughter loved the lesson and she learned some excellent new techniques!

Just what my son needs, I like what I saw on his first session, we will definitely be back, Thank you Coach Nick, GREAT WORK

Coach Nick personally tailors the training session to the skill level of the individual player. He understands the nuances of the game, both offensively and defensively.

Coach Nick is great! He took the time to speak with us about our son's abilities and needs before meeting with us. Coach Nick made our son feel comfortable and confident. We would definitely recommend Coach Nick!

Coach Nick adapts to the athlete’s needs and age. He’s motivating and keeps the sessions interesting and challenging - he has my 6-yr old’s attention at all times! I’d recommend him to anyone!

My son really connected with coach Nick and was able to learn things he had not learned through AAU

Working with Coach Nick was awesome. He came in with an enthusiastic attitude that was contagious. He evaluated each of my sons then developed a plan for them according to their basketball level and game IQ. Both boys were super pumped to have a plan and work to implement it in their game. We are looking forward to the next session!

My son and I were really impressed with Nick from the start at the first private lesson. He definitely covered what a coach should regarding skills training, but what really impressed both of us was how detailed his teaching of the skills was and how directly involved he was by constantly showing by example what he was looking for and then having the student repeat it until he understood the correct methods. It was apparent that Nick is a student of the game by how in depth he could get with certain strategies while teaching the skills.

Coach Nick was great! My son learned so much after his first session that he is able to work on and apply to his current basketball skills. He seems easy to talk to and very much an expert at this sport.

Coach Nick is excellent!! He is expert in his craft and the fact that he is also a teacher shines though in his attention to detail, communication with student, and required intensity. He quickly assesses, begins the correction process, and motivates. At the end of session One, Coach Nick had my 10-year-old make a chart of drills to complete on his own and holds him accountable to a specific plan. This is the first time my son appears to be motivated to do this type of homework on his own and it seems like he is starting to see the value of the independent, preparatory, hard-work. I think most dad's know the struggle to get our kids to receive sports advice from us but it seems Coach Nick has turned on a light for him. Buying a 10 pack of lessons now.

Coach Nick is awesome! As a parent, I could not be more pleased. He is very personable & responsible. (Two things that are very important to me) I love the way he trains our son. He has a sweet demeanor but he means business. When I asked our son to describe him, he said: "He's great with kids and he pushes you to go beyond. I really like him!"

Nick has done a great job working with my 13 year old son on his aspirations and goals in regards to basketball.

Had our first session with Coach Nick today and were very pleased! You can definitley tell he's experienced and passionate about the game. My son is 6 and has been playing basketball for 2 years now. Coach Nick asked about goals but also assessed what skills he felt needed to be worked on. He's patient and encourages players to push themselves while having fun. Will definitley be booking recurring sessions with Coach Nick!

We've only had a couple of Sessions with Coach Nick but can already see the improvement my son is going to make with him. Told him exactly what I needed him to help my son with and he didn't waste any time doing it.
What really sold me on whether this was going to be worthwhile was the fact that he cares about the details which are so important to me too and I see other Coaches miss. He's very encouraging and even though he worked my son hard today, he still made it fun for him. Definitely booking more Sessions and I encourage everyone else to.

Coach Nick is very knowledgeable to the game. He is patient and knows how to work with the player on their level so that they can obtain the most information. He explains the drill, demonstrates and then lets the player do it. He has constant dialogue with the player to make sure that he covers everything that they need to work on. He teaches the player while also having fun. He is an all around great trainer!

Coach Nick conducted an initial training session with my 13-year old son who has recently become interested in basketball, so he's late to the sport. Given his learning curve, Coach Nick did a fantastic job providing skills, drills, and instruction at the appropriate level for him. His patience level is extremely high, and he teaches in a very straightforward way that's easily accessible. It was amazing to watch my son's confidence level and skills improve in the matter of 1.5 hours. I strongly recommend Coach Nick! We're booking several more sessions with him, and I encourage you to do the same!!

Coach Nick was very fun to train with. He pushed me to my limit and taught me that I actually can achieve higher levels of playing the game. Can’t wait to be training with him again.

Our 13 year old daughter asked us about getting a trainer to work with her to help her improve her skills in basketball. We found Coach Nick through CoachUp and thought we will give it a try without having any ideas of how it would go. Coach Nick spoke to her on a level she could understand as he showed her drills and what skills those drills will help her get better at. Coach Nick even gave her homework- writing just a few things down for her to practice on her own at home for ball handling and shooting form.
We were impressed and before we got to the car she was asking when she could schedule more sessions. Can't wait to see her improvement with continued sessions with Coach Nick and additional practice on her own.

Thanks!

Coach Nick did a great job with my 11 year old son. He can't wait for another session. I would recommend Coach Nick to anyone.

Sam is really enjoying the workouts! Very helpful to his development.

We are fortunate to have Coach Nick coach our 12 years old grandson. Coach Nick is patient, very considerate and an excellent coach. We saw remarkable improvement after two sessions. We are quite satisfied with how Coach Nick is coaching our grandson and we highly recommend him as a coach. He is easily the best coach for our grandson. He knows how to engage and motivate. We were impressed with his coaching skills as well as his ability to instill a level of confidence in our grandson. His coaching methods are beyond reproach and he is a great role model. He is an exceptional coach who truly loves coaching.

CoachUp grandparents, basketball.

Coach Nick did an awesome job training my 12 year old and 5 year old today. He is very patient with them and nice. There were so many things he taught them that I didn't think about teaching them or may have forgotten about. My kids both liked working with him and are very comfortable with him. This was the first of many sessions we hope for. Will be booking he as long as he is coaching

Coach Nick was great. He immediately connected with my son. You can tell he has a passion for the game and working with others. He was able to get my son to listen and go through the motions that no other coach has done. I would highly recommend Coach Nick. He was awesome and he has definitely earned my business!!! Parents if you are looking for someone to get your kids to the next level, he is the one!!! Thanks Coach!!!

Coach Nick was a very nice guy and was a excellent coach. Works hard to make me better

I had the opportunity to coach Nick Siebert for two years at the college level. I believe his biggest two attributes are his competitiveness and 100% commitment to the game. He will be very attentive to your child as a coach and he will consistently push them to their max. I know he can be a big asset in helping your child become a better basketball player and a better person.
Nick has great energy and passion for the game! He puts 100% into everything. He knows the game of basketball and is a good teacher of the game. He genuinely cares about the athletes and their well being on and off the court. He is an asset to any coach and program.
