More About Coach Nick
I am currently a full time law enforcement professional and I have a strong desire to give back to the good people of my community. My wife and I are very active members of our community and also run a family owned Personal Training Business. I am currently a certified fitness professional with the International Sports and Science Association and continue to further my education with the the International Fitness Professionals Association with a Specialization in Sports Conditioning, Baseball Specific.
I love our great game of baseball and strive to help the young athletes of my community to better themselves on and off the playing field. I believe my knowledge of fitness and baseball can be used to help vault any young athlete to the next level. Helping them become a more fundamentally sound and physically fit baseball player.
I have over 12 years of organized league baseball experience. I played throughout my youth, through high school. I had the skill and desire to further my playing at the college level, but was forced out of the game and into the job market to help my family at home.
I have a great love for the game and a strong desire to help our youth reach their highest potential, while providing a safe and fun learning atmosphere. I have also gone through an extensive full and complete background check. Honest, Genuine, and Trustworthy !!!
Thank You !!
As a young athlete, I have always had the drive and skill to be successful on the playing field. If there was a league playing, I was in it. All Star teams, Travel Teams, and even International Teams. I had the great experience of being apart of a travel team to play Japan. I also had the great opportunity to play on multiple Tournament Teams that played throughout the state of California and Nevada. Although I was a all around fundamentally sound ball player, my dad continued to help me with my success by finding a pitching and hitting coach to fine tune my skills. I attended the Steve Lefebvre School Of Baseball. The experience gained stayed with me throughout my life. I was able to apply the knowledge gained all throughout my youth and through high school.
I now volunteer my time to help with local little league instruction. I remember how important it was as a young athlete to have a mentor to guide me through all aspects of the game. I also coach and teach as a Personal Fitness Trainer. My business is family owned and operated by my wife and I. The sessions we provide are One on One. This allows me to focus all my attention on my student. Always providing constant motivation and positive feedback, while maintaining a fun and comfortable learning environment. The greatest joy I get in my life is helping people, young or old, reach and surpass their goals. My experience has been mainly with adults, but the education and knowledge I have and continue to gain can be used for all ages.
While training a young athlete, it is very important to keep them interested and motivated on the learning subject. The first thing I always like to do is immediately begin working on a positive and professional relationship. Gaining the trust of the student and parents, while providing a fun learning atmosphere. Next we begin to learn and prefect the basic rules and fundamentals of the game. Technique, Technique, Technique. Young athletes, especially those new to the game should be learning proper technique and proper fundamentals. Once this very important step has been reached, we can move into more specific aspects of the game.
Each field practice session will be broken up with physical fitness sessions. In order to increase general physical preparedness, young athletes need to master the basics of fitness. The goal for young athletes isn't to get them super strong, but instead to build a solid physical foundation so they can become a great overall athlete down the road. Utilizing proper weight with our main focus on technique and injury prevention. Proper warm up and stretching is key. Endurance training will also be present. Running laps, rounding bases, and baseball specific speed and agility drills will be utilized depending on the skill level and age of the athlete.
Throughout each session it is very important to watch for signs of overtraining and fatigue. This can be both mental and physical. Every student should be having FUN, while learning and growing into a fit and fundamentally sound athlete. Well designed training programs also give young athletes self esteem and a taste of success as they achieve and surpass their individual goals. Resistance training programs designed for young athletes also play a major role in overuse injury prevention and serve as a foundation for healthy training and good behavioral habits that can be used throughout their lives.
Strength and endurance training, when properly planned and implemented can improve performance, potentially reduce injury and promote health. This form of conditioning should be a part of all baseball programs and is what I strive for.
