More About Coach Nick
I'm currently a volunteer D1 Basketball coach at Appalachian State University. I work in player development with Women's basketball and have coached basketball at a couple different levels and with both genders. I typically work with kids 5th-10th grade but am willing to work with kids of all ages to develop their skills.
I don't have any D1 playing accomplishments but I've played basketball my entire life and coached it for a few years now. I won 4 intramural basketball championships as well as 4 intramural football championships and was the captain/coach on all of those teams. I was selected as the league MVP in almost all the leagues I played in. I have a love for the game, and hope to share my passion and experience with the next generation.
As a trainer, I will focus on making the player better at their weaknesses while also sharpening their strengths. I hope to get them to better understand the game so that they're more prepared to succeed in all different types of scenarios. A typical session would start off with ball-handling and transition into mikans because I think being able to handle the ball, and finish off of different feet and with contact, is very important in the sport. I'd then look to have a plan tailored to what the kids or parents would like to be strengthened in their athlete. It would involve lots of shots, and learning different moves for their arsenal depending on the age and level of play of the athlete.
