More About Coach Mike

I just retired after coaching basketball, volleyball and softball for the last 35 years. I was a Frosh/JV and varsity boys coach at Enterprise high school. I was a NSCIF coach of the year multiple times. I had one team make the California state finals D-III championship where we lost to a team with current Lakers Coach Luke Walton.

I played basketball for 4 years at Madison high school and 2 years at San Diego Mesa junior college . I was selected all league my junior and senior year in high school and all conference my sophomore year in junior college. I played my final 2 years at Chico State. I still own the individual game and career assists at Madison and Mesa. I was a point guard who was know for my unselfish play, tenacity on the defensive end and my knowledge of the game.

I would take a client through skill diagnostics to obtain the areas that they need help with. Once i determine these needs i will design a program that addresses these through drills. The program will be individualized to each client with specific goals for each technique

Mike Haworth was my coach, mentor and now my colleague and friend. What coach Haworth has done for me and my kids has benefited my entire family. Coach taught me not only how to compete in sports but in life. I pass that along to my kids now. Mike is a family man and considers all who he has coached as part of his family. I have been a baseball coach in this community for the past 18 years. I pass onto my players a lot of what I learned from him. My son Easton has a chance to play for coach next year and has already been influenced by him. He is excited and so am I! I have a younger son and daughter who hopefully will get the chance to play for him as well. There is no other person I would rather have coach them during their high school career as coach Haworth. I have played for many coaches and I have also had an opportunity to coach along side them . No one has come close to him other than my own family when it comes to teaching the concept of competing and life lessons. Coach Haworth you are an inspiration to my family and I personally thank you for all you have taught me. Every kid that has the opportunity to be coached by you, whether it be basketball, volleyball or softball is fortunate and will be influenced by you forever.
If only our youth today understood what a privilege it is to be coached by Mike Haworth. As a 3 sport high school and collegiate athlete--no coach ever measured up to him! I tell my children I have Mike to thank for my successes. He pounded fundamental knowledge into us, created drills for individual practice sessions, spent hours creating unity and driving out selfishness, demanded each athlete push them self to the limit, expected us to mature in life and our in sport, promoted respect to other teams, parents, and officials and held us accountable for our actions on and off the court/field. Mike didn't accept excuses from us and didn't make excuses for himself. He wasn't wrong much, but would admit it when he was.
