More About Coach Mike

I am currently the Head Coach of the 16/18U AZ Scorpions girls fastpitch softball club team (az-scorpions.org). I have been a coach for the AZ Scorpions for 4 years. I have been an integral part of building a club team from the ground up. I have coached and helped develop 3 current college softball players, 3 more current High School seniors headed to play college and 5 more High School juniors currently being recruited. I have worked with athletes age 10 and up.

I give lessons at my club teams Indoor facility in Tempe, with 3 tunnels, 2 pitching machines and 3 hitting stations. I can also meet you at various parks where we have practice or whats easiest for you.

I started playing baseball when I was 11 years old. I learned the game from my father and from watching him play Fastpitch and Slow Pitch in the Navy.
I attended Buckeye High School (AZ), where I was the 3A West player of the year, 3A West Region POY, 1st team all state, and only 3A player on the All Arizona team my Junior year as a SS (91). I was also 1st team All State my Senior year. I left Buckeye with 12 school records including Season and career Total Bases and Season and career Home Runs.
I played at Phoenix College (AZ) for 2 years (93-94) at SS/2B, where I held the season Home Run record and was named a AZJCC all star after my Freshman year.
I walked on to Arizona State University and was the only player to make the team out of almost 100 walk on tryouts. I played 2 years (96-97) I was a 1B/3B and a starter for the #5 ranked Sun Devils my Senior year. I had a career 315 avg. I played 1 year of Professional Ball (97) with the Sioux Falls Canaries in South Dakota.

I have an Indoor Facility in Tempe, with my club team, that has 3 tunnels, 2 pitching machines and 3 hitting stations.

A typical new client session would start with watching a player Hit, Field, Throw, etc.. Then create a plan based around what that individual needs to work on to improve. Also to to create a plan based around their skill level. Then building from there. Existing clients we continue to build on the progress we have while also working on any flaws we see.

I am a big believer in correct!! fundamentals, drills and repetition. Having a good work ethic and a positive attitude is always a plus. I like to have fun and like to make my sessions free an easy. I have an open communication with clients and parents so we all know what we are working on and what our goals are. I want clients and parents to be involved and honest with our progression.

A+ Coach!!! Great with my daughter and very knowledgeable .

Coach Mike is excellent. He was patient with my daughter and really helped her with her batting mechanics. After one session, she felt the improvement! She is excited to return for additional sessions to continue her development.

During one session he was able to identify mechanical issues with my daughter's throwing, fielding and batting and already start to correct them. I truly felt that Coach Mike's focus was on the development of my daughter and being honest with her and us.
