More About Coach Mike

As the son of a professional boxer, I started throwing punches when I was still in diapers and participated in many different styles of combat sports including USA boxing. I have boxed at iconic gyms like Wildcard, Victory boxing, and the Bomb Squad in Los Angeles. Currently, I am pursuing my doctorate in physical therapy and coach part time in public and private settings. I guarantee you a great workout while you learn the sweet science of boxing.

I was awarded “All American” status by the National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) for my performance representing the University of Connecticut (UConn). As a heavyweight, I placed 3rd in the NCBA national tournament and have fought in amateur shows around the country. I have also competed under other combat sport rule sets.

My coaching sessions are tailored to a client’s specific goals with their experience in mind. Typically, sessions begin with a light warm up like jumping rope and shadow boxing drills. Then we work the mitts in a way that hones timing and reinforces good habits like proper footwork, head movement, and hand positioning. Additionally, many clients benefit from light sparring exercises to gain realistic boxing experience. Last, we progress into functional strength and conditioning exercises like calisthenics before ending with a cool down and light stretch.
