More About Coach Miesha

First off let me say thank you for taking the time to learn about me. I have been playing basketball for almost 21 years now, I have been coaching since I was 22, most of the coaching that I have been doing is for troubled youth until I got a job as an assistant coach at Garrett College in Maryland. I work with any age group, I love coaching, I love basketball. I try to incorporate being a mentor to all of my players because I feel like basketball is more than just a game, it's life for some people. Right now, I am training outside of work, so I do personal train outside of CoachUp.

I played at The University of Arkansas in Fort Smith my freshmen year where we became Conference champs and I was dubbed Defensive Player of the Year. I transferred to Howard College in Texas after my freshmen year after taking a year off and focusing I academics. The following year I played and again we won Conference, going to Nationals where I was given the Defensive Player of the Year award again, also leading the team in steals and rebounds. After I was done with junior college I went to The University of Texas Permian Basin after turning down other D1 offers, I'm the type of player who wants to help build a underdog program and that's what we were. Needless to say we won Conference again and we won rings this time. I received All-Conference, All-Tournament, Tournament MVP and Defensive Player of the Year awards, again leading my team in steals and rebound, I was second in scoring and third in assist. I am now playing for a Semi-Pro team in Dallas called the Dallas Diesel, trying to further my career to play overseas.

A typical session with me will involve conditioning and training, I will push you but motivate you at the same time. I will teach you how to play through physical contact, reminding you that basketball is 90% mental and 10% physical. We will work on shooting, dribbling, defense and how to be a leader on and off the court. The key thing to most successful basketball players is effort, hard work, dedication and most of all being coachable. I will bring all of what I've learned to the table. I've had some of the hardest coaches who in return were all mentors to me. I have a superior basketball IQ and I plan on sharing it with you so that your opportunities have no limit.

Miesha is a great coach for young players. She had my 12 year old son working hard from the get go and I saw huge improvements after the first hour session. I got a lot of “thumbs up” signs from him during the session and he told me immediately afterwards that he wants to keep training with her. She is friendly and easy going but knows how to get the most out of her students.

Coach Miesha is very patient and I absolutely love working with her. She’s helping me get back in shape also with my skills on and off court. She makes sure that everything I do is done right. She’s the best trainer!

My daughter enjoyed working with Coach Miesha. She was encouraging and very knowledgeable. My daughter learned a lot and is looking forward to working more with her.

My daughter really likes working with coach Miesha. They worked on dribbling, shooting and defense and she looks forward to future sessions.

Blackshear also turned in a triple-double against Abilene Christian with 22 points, 12 rebounds and 11 steals. Miesha is having the best season of her college career so far." -Coach Adam Collins Miesha is one of the best defenders and fastest players I know, she really digs deep defensively and her footwork is quick, allowing her to steal the ball before anybody can react" -UTPB teammate
