More About Coach Michael
Following my senior year playing lacrosse at Michigan State (2020), I continued my education at MSU and earned my Master's degree. During this time I began my coaching career with the Premier Lacrosse Group (PLG), a well-established and respected lacrosse organization in Michigan. I coached two PLG teams throughout summer and fall seasons, an 8th grade (14U) boys team and a High School (Juniors/17U) boys team. My 14U team won the Rockford, IL Tournament Championship, which was the last tournament I coached with PLG prior to moving to San Diego in 2021. I recently began coaching lacrosse in San Diego for the Junior Seals Travel Team and GWB Club. I coach alongside professional lacrosse players and phenomenal coaches such as Cam Holding, Wes Berg, and Brian Cooper. Our team culture is centered around communication, focus, and work ethic. I have had an absolute blast working with these teams and love helping players grow as athletes and young men.
I started playing lacrosse my sophomore year of high school at Marmion Academy (Aurora, IL). by my senior year I was the captain of the varsity team, led the team in single-season points (55), led the team to win the Sticks and Stones West Chicago Tournament for the first time in program history, and was awarded the team MVP (Fr. Damien Daprai) award. I walked onto the Michigan State men's lacrosse team (MCLA Division I) under coach Cam Holding, a professional lacrosse player (Team Canada/San Diego Seals). I worked my way up the depth chart while at Michigan State and dramatically improved my skillset and lacrosse IQ during my four years playing. I went from riding the bench as a third-string offensive midfielder my freshman year to being a starting offensive and defensive midfielder my senior year. I helped my team win the CCLA conference Championship in 2017, make it to the National Tournament three years straight (2017-2019), and win the 2018 MCLA National Championship in SLC, Utah. In a very short time, I went from a first-time player to national champion at the collegiate level and went from a bench-warmer to starter on one of the top collegiate teams in the MCLA. I had to make a lot of progress in a short amount of time, and I made this progress through deliberate, focused training and repetition. I developed immensely through training on my own, and fine-tuned my training throughout my career. Now I want to pass what I've learned onto up and coming players who are striving to be the best and improve.
A typical session will be 75 minutes:
-10 minutes of warmup stickwork/close up shooting (dial the stick in before getting to work)
-65 minutes of position-specific (attack/offensive midfielder) drills.
- Throughout this training session, the player's fundamentals (shooting/passing/catching/footwork technique) will be continually analyzed and constant feedback with reasoning will be provided. Drills will be tailored to help the player improve areas of weakness and improve in general offensive skills (time and room, shooting on the run down the alleys, finishing from x, etc.)
- A major focus for me during a quality training session is not the time spent performing reps, but about the number of quality reps a player gets. My goal is to help the player get at least 100-150 quality reps (shots) per session split between multiple drills and both left and right hands.

Coach Michael is an amazing lacrosse instructor. My two boys (ages 13 and 15) learned so much from him in just one session. In fact, my boys said that he was the best instructor that they ever had, and they asked (begged!) me to sign them up for more sessions. Unfortunately we do not live in in the San Diego (that is where Michael lives), but we were just visiting for Spring Break.
If you want a fantastic lacrosse coach/trainer/coach, for any position, you will not be disappointed with Michael.

Coach Michael is fantastic! My son was excited to share all that he learned in just his first session and I immediately noticed a difference while watching his next game. Coach Michael’s feedback email was much appreciated and the at home practice plan he shared was above and beyond. My son is looking forward to continuing to train with Coach Michael and grow as an athlete.
