More About Coach Michael

I have experience coaching youth soccer including volunteer coaching for Soccer Without Borders and the Rio Rapids 07-09. I have worked as a trainer at LA Fitness for a summer. I typically work with the age group 12-18 years old. I do not currently have any industry certifications.

My specific athletic accomplishments include playing soccer at the Division I collegiate level at UMBC (University of Maryland, Baltimore County). I grew up playing soccer in Albuquerque, NM and have played soccer since I was 3 years old and love the game. I have experience playing at a high level in multiple different positions including outside wing, forward, center mid, and outside back. While in high school I played soccer for the Chievo Verona Academy in Verona, Italy.

A client can expect a high intensity session with a focus on the development of attacking skills and fundamentals. A lot of the sessions will focus on skills including but not limited to, first touch, controlling the ball out of the air, shooting/finishing, short and long passes, and physical conditioning. The drills could vary from a simple one touch passing drill around cones to a shooting drill where the client must control the ball out of the air and hit it first time on target. A typical session would include a short warm-up, straight into a passing or technical drill to further warm-up the body and then we would move onto the main focus of the session, whether that be finishing or long balls etc. We would then finish the session with a little bit of physical fitness including running or core exercises. Every session would be tailored to each client and what their goals for improvement are as well as managing their training load.
