More About Coach Mert Meric
With certifications from Ontario Soccer, the School of Sports Coaching, and UEFA-based training, I bring a structured and modern approach to goalkeeper development. I’ve coached goalkeepers across youth and adult levels, both in team settings and 1-on-1 sessions. My focus areas include shot-stopping, distribution, communication, and match-readiness. I currently train consistently at Oakmont Center and work with goalkeepers aiming for semi-pro and professional levels
I have competed as a goalkeeper at a high level, playing in competitive leagues and training alongside semi-professional and UPSL/NPSL-level players. Throughout my playing career, I have been recognized for my reflexes, shot-stopping ability, and leadership on the field. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with experienced coaches and participate in high-intensity development environments, both in the U.S. and internationally. These experiences have shaped my approach as both an athlete and a coach.
Dynamic Warm-Up
Focused on mobility, activation, and goalkeeper-specific movements.
Technical Drills
Emphasis on footwork, handling, diving technique, and positioning.
Reaction & Reflex Training
Using tennis balls, short-distance shots, or unexpected stimuli to sharpen reflexes.
Game-Realistic Scenarios
1v1s, crossing situations, and shot-stopping under pressure to simulate match conditions.
Cool-Down & Feedback
Light recovery movements followed by a short feedback session to review strengths and improvement areas.
Sessions are high-energy, focused, and always adapted to help each goalkeeper improve with confidence and clarity.
