Being from a small town, I didn’t have a lot of options when it came to sports. I was heir to the “basketball throne” so to speak—my grandfather being a successful high school women’s basketball coach, and my mother being a middle school girls coach (yes, she was my personal coach too!) With those influences, it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with basketball. I was lucky enough to be involved with both high school basketball and club basketball, where I played with the dream of making it at the collegiate level. By the grace of God, I had that opportunity. I played both the power forward and guard position at Oklahoma Baptist University.

My dream of playing college basketball didn’t come true simply because of my good height and strength. A good mixture of hard work, extensive training, private coaching, and lots and lots of playing experience, allowed me to reach my goals and dreams. I have a passion for coaching—mainly because of the positive impact coaches have had on my life. I gained tremendous insight on several aspects of the game—from basic fundamentals, to greater “court sense”.

I currently coach at Advent Episcopal School in downtown Birmingham. I have also spent my summers training and equipping young women to be better athletes both on and off the court for over five years. Camps such as The Basketball University (Formerly known as Point Guard College) and Kanakuk Kamps, alongside camps put on by my university, have allowed me to gain a broad experience in coaching.

I enjoy working with players from a variety of levels. I have a heart for middle school kiddos and teenagers, mainly because that adolescent age was the period in my life where I began to develop goals and seek training from professional athletes. I desire my clients not only to improve or enhance their individual game, but I also desire for my clients to impact and inspire their own team through determination, mental toughness, and a relentless work ethic. Further, I desire for my clients to move forward in gaining self-confidence through each session.

I work with any position—from post to point guard. I start my sessions with dynamic warm-ups, leading to ball handling drills, and then shooting techniques. As my sessions progress, my clients will begin learning one-on-one moves—gaining improved court vision and bettering their skills for game-like situations. I concentrate on both offensive and defensive techniques, teaching my clients the importance of mastering both qualities of the game.
