Turning weakness into strength. Nobody ever got better by only focusing on what they do well!

Early sessions establish the kind of player I'm working with, then focus on enhancing, expanding, and extolling proper fundamentals. The key is body awareness: ensuring the player - regardless of age - knows his/her mechanics, his/her body's physical tendencies, and the strength of his/her range of motion. I make sure my players know the essential motions that make an effective swing and/ or pitching delivery, so they have a basis for their mechanics. I am a strong believer in the quality of reps, not the quantity; I would rather a player take 10 excellent, focused, controlled swings than 100 frantic ones.

Whether it is pitching or hitting, once we hone in on the specific areas that need improvement I break down the mechanics into isolated sections, then run the player through drills to directly address them. The goal is "repeatability," making certain the athlete can repeat the proper, fluid mechanics consistently and thus develop the muscle memory necessary to excel. Not all the baseball drills I put my athletes through will require baseballs, gloves, or bats. Many drills test athletic ability outside the finessed specifics of baseball - these include balance techniques, moderate strength building, and strategies to develop the most important part of an athlete: the mentality.

OK rather than just a baseball Dad doing a review for my 13 year old son the below words are direct from my son.

"Coach Max has lots of information to share about every aspect of baseball. He explains himself really well so I can get a really deep understanding on what I have to do. He tells me what I should work on and also has many physical exercises that can be done anywhere to further improve my swing and pitching technique. Overall he is a very bright and awesome coach" From Max age 13.

Max is great. Helped my son understand throwing mechanics and taught him how to warm/up down the right way. We highly recommend him.

My son trained with Coach Max this summer. He has definitely shown a lot of improvement. Coach Max was very professional and flexible. Thanks for coaching our son. Hope you are back next summer.

Coach Max was great with our son who is a 9yr old lefty. He was very quickly able to assess various aspects of our son's pitching,
hitting, and fielding. Max was able to have our son make small adjustments that had great effect. Our son really connected with Max and thoroughly enjoyed the coaching experience! We will definitely book more lessons when he is available and would recommend coach Max to anyone.

Coach Max was great with our 8 year old son. He helped him understand the basics and stay focused.

We had a great first session with Coach Max. He related well with my son and he is eager to continue. We are booking more lessons right away. Best praise I can offer is that my 9 year-old said he couldn't believe that an hour passed so quickly!

We've been very pleased with Coach Max. He's done a great job at identifying the areas where my son needs to improve. He's good at breaking down the mechanics and explaining how to do things the right way and has great drills to help work on those areas. We are definitely seeing an improvement. We are all learning a lot and are getting great tips to allow us to continue working on our own. We definitely recommend Coach Max.

Coach Max was excellent in drilling fundamentals with added mechanics to improve my son's s skills. I found it fabulous that he broke every baseball action into smaller movements that were readily understandable for my son. Thanks for getting us in gear for the upcoming all star season!
