More About Coach Mauricio
I have coached many juniors around the Nashville area for the past 2 years, serving as a hitting partner for some of the top players in the state of Tennessee. I also worked at Wildwood Swim&Tennis club, working with kids from 8-16 years old. I also have served as a hitting partner for some of the best tennis players in the world, such as Thomaz Bellucci (career high #21 in the ATP World Tour rankings), Brian Baker (#52) and Gastao Elias (#103). I will also be the Graduate-Assistant coach at Belmont University for the next fall.
I have been playing tennis for about 17 years, and I was a top 10 ranked player in Brazil under 18s. As an student-athlete at NCAA Division 1 school Belmont University, I was recognized as Belmont Newcomer of the Year, as well as being named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year and earning All-OVC First Team awards in both my junior and senior year. I played #1 singles and doubles, holding the All-Time record for Season Conference Singles Victories and Season Doubles Victories.
In my sessions, I am really flexible about learning more about the player's game style, so I can work not only on their weaknesses, but also on their strengths. I do several drills focusing on strategy and ball positioning, how to use the court in your advantage and improving the player's footwork and balance for every shot. I also listen to the player's suggestions if they have something specific they are looking to work on, as well as learning their goals and objectives with tennis.
