More About Coach Matthew

I have experience coaching at a small club as a volunteer. This experience was working with kids who just started playing soccer and were entered into the league to play soccer competitively for the first time. This was a recreational league in florida and I helped train at a club called Florida Rush. I mainly have coached younger kids between the ages of 8-10. I am a D3 soccer player and have had many personal experiences experiencing many different styles of play myself and intend to incorporate that in my future coaching. I do not have much experience currently but I intend to develop my coaching skills so that I can help other players develop. My greatest goal would be to be able to coach and develop talent in a way that would help them reach their athletic goals and get closer to their full potential.

I competed at a high level while I attended Montverde Academy for 2 years in Florida. At that level, we competed against many MLS Next teams and strong club teams from abroad. The coaches there have many years of experience and have a strong background in soccer which allowed them to have a good impact on my playing style. I have also completed one year of soccer at the D3 level competing with Eastern University in Philadelphia. I played a total of 286 minutes and had 1 goal and 1 assist in my freshman year. This experience has been good for my knowledge in soccer because it is a completely different style of play than what I have experienced before. I was used to a more technical and passing style of play in my younger years, and the college level introduced me to long balls and physicality.

A client can expect high-intensity sessions that have a variety of agility and technical aspects. I like to encourage technically focused drills that improve players' touch and ability to create space which translates to gameplay. I would train an athlete starting with a warmup. I would then shift to something that would warm up the athlete in terms of getting used to the ball at their feet and getting ready to transition to soccer. This would be something like a passing drill or a dribbling drill that can be done at a slow to medium pace. I would then transition to the main drills which would be specific to the topic of action which could be things like passing through the lines or finishing. I enjoy drills that are more intense for the large part of the session because this works on a players ability while being able to teach them how to think when they get tired.
