More About Coach Matt
I am the head varsity boys basketball coach at Keystone Prep High School. Prior to that, I was on an NCAA D1 coaching staff at The Citadel, and before that I was an assistant coach for the 2015 FHSAA 2A State Final Four Academy at the Lakes varsity boys basketball team. I'm also the head coach for the Demons 2022 AAU basketball team.
I was the first 1000 point scorer in school history, and became the all-time leader in points, rebounds, assistants, blocks, and steals (some have since been broken). I was recruited by 30+ colleges (many of them at the Ivy League level), but in the end I chose to forgo that route for personal reasons and instead attend the University of Florida. At UF, I led a highly competitive intramural team.
I run a thoroughly planned out session in which no time is wasted. A player will go through a number of drills, primarily focusing on skill work and conditioning, since basketball is, and will always be, a skill game first. As a proficient scorer, I can teach anyone how to become a better shooter and all-around scorer. I know, and want to share, the small nuances of the game that can put you on a different level than your competition.
