More About Coach Matt

I have been coaching athletes for over twenty years. My specialty is in coaching baseball with a strong emphasis on developing fundamentals. Prior to coaching I was a collegiate soccer and baseball player.
I currently serve as the Head Baseball Coach at Notre Dame of Maryland University, a Division 3 program in Baltimore. I previously served as the Head Baseball Coach at Division 2 Junior College, CCBC Dundalk. My coaching experience also includes working closely with former professional players and coaches including Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. and his brother, MLB Network Baseball Analyst Bill Ripken. I have directed baseball coaching clinics, camps, and coached in various parts of the country and world including trips to China and Nicaragua. I am the Founder of the travel/club program, Maryland Baseball Club.

High School: Three sport athlete which including Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball. All County Soccer and Baseball and All County Honorable Mention in Basketball.
College: Two sport athlete which included Soccer and Baseball. I won Defensive Player of the Year honors for both Soccer and Baseball and received All Conference Honorable Mention honors for Baseball. I was voted Captain of my Soccer team for 3 consecutive years and Captain of my Baseball team for two consecutive years. I was selected as the Male Sportsmanship Award recipient my senior year after receiving All Conference Sportsmanship Honors for two consecutive years.

My training sessions are designed specifically to the athlete and the athlete’s goals/needs. No two programs that I design will be the same as no two athletes are the same.

My sessions always begin with a direct conversation with the athlete to gain an understanding of what their goals are and where they would like to improve. This is not part of their training sessions and there is no additional fee associated with that conversation. I use this conversation to better design a program unique and specific to that athlete.

If you don't see a time available, please contact me directly to coordinate a time that would work best for both of us. Just because I appear as unavailable doesn't mean I'm necessarily unavailable. My schedule changes regularly.

Client Reviews

Isaac really enjoyed the session. Looking forward to future meet ups. Thanks.

Matt is awesome! He is great with my son and found away to connect with him to improve!

After one session my son obtained valuable feedback that immediately impacted his performance at his next game. Coach Matt provides specific feedback that is easily applied. My son enjoyed working with Coach Matt and we are looking forward to scheduling sessions. It is wonderful to see my son’s confidence in himself, and his performance, increase exponentially.

Coach Matt is great. He works on the basics with my son and has given my son the confidence to play on his rec. team with other kids who have been playing for years. He's easy to make arrangements with and has an easy disposition.

Right off the bat (no pun intended) he was engaged in conversation with my 11yo son
about what he wanted to learn and how they were going to get there.... like I wasn't even there. My son felt extremely comfortable and felt like he was part of the process, rather than just being told what to do. He's had two sessions so far and we just signed up for 10 more. Easy to tell that Matt loves baseball, and enjoys teaching. Walking around Ripken complex, he seems to always bump into several people he knows trough playing or coaching, so it's easy to see that he has been around and is well liked. After only two sessions, I can see a difference in my son's stance at the plate, throwing, and grounding. Pretty incredible. Matt seems like a genuinely nice and approachable coach and is accommodating and flexible with his schedule. I would 100% recommend him as a coach!
