More About Coach Mark

Over the past 4 years as a health and physical educator, I have coached over 1,000 students in the area of fitness. Combining to work/coach at various schools (Mt. Lebanon, Chartiers Valley, and City Charter High School) I have come up with an understanding of what an individual needs for optimal health, fitness, and nutrition. The ages groups I typically work with are students ranging from the ages of 12-22. I specialize in compound weight training with supplemental cardio exercises. Currently enrolled full-time in a Master's Program with an emphasis in Exercise Science: Wellness and Fitness I use appropriate, science-based methods in order to train/coach my students. As time goes on, I continue to grow professionally and develop the most efficient ways for students/clients to get in shape. Within a year's time, I will have received a NASM personal trainer certification to further enhance my resume.

As a former collegiate and high school athlete, I have various accomplishments. In high school, I was an all-conference offensive and defensive lineman, as well as a standout baseball player. Moving on to college, I played one year of D-I football at the University of Pittsburgh. My training through all of these experiences has helped me form some of the foundations I use to train today.

A typical session with me consists of three essential parts: a dynamic warmup specific to the area of training, the main workout, and a static recovery after the workout. The main workout usually consists of heavy, compound weight training followed with some isolation and accessory exercises. Cardio is used on an individual need basis with the preference being H.I.I.T. training with L.I.S.S. being an option as well. A session can last anywhere from 45-75 minutes and leave the client feeling satisfied with their workout, but not drained physically or mentally.
