More About Coach Marcus
I have worked with athletes for over 15 years, coaching at both the high school and college levels. I have been a trainer at a D1 sports performance center, Velocity Sports Performance, and other sports performance gyms. I primarily work with athletes at the high school, college, and professional levels. I have my degree in exercise Science.
Adrian Wilcox High School: Placed first in the long jump at the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League (SCVAL). Also won the 110-meter hurdles and finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles at SCVAL.
West Valley Community College: Placed second in the 110-meter hurdles at the Coast Conference Championships with a personal best. Also set a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles and finished seventh at the California Community College State Championships.
Cal Poly Pomona: Finished second in the NCAA CCAA Championships and earned Academic Honors.
I structure my training sessions by first focusing on the warm-up, ensuring athletes learn how to perform it correctly. After that, we progress into dynamic drills, followed by mobility exercises and plyometric work. The main portion of the session is dedicated to the day's emphasis—whether it’s speed, max velocity, acceleration, change of direction, or another area specific to the athlete's needs. Finally, we wrap up with a cooldown and stretching to promote recovery.
