More About Coach Marcus

At Camp North Star Maine (June 2019-August 2019) in Poland ME: I was the Head Basketball Director where I would train kids ages 6-16. At Camp North Star, I also coached the boys 12u and 15u teams to two victories in two games against rival camps in Maine.

At Triple Threat Youth Basketball Camp (Summers 2016-2018) in Danbury CT: I was one of the basketball instructors that trained kids ages 7-15

I am a Senior at Emmanuel College in Boston, MA. I have been a starter on the team since my freshman year. I scored my 1000th point of my career this season, becoming the 10th player in program history to do so. I was named 2nd team All GNAC as a junior. I was also named GNAC Player of the Week during the week of January 5th, 2020. I appeared on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll eight times during my most recent season. I appeared on the GNAC Weekly honor roll four times during my sophomore season. I was also named the GNAC Rookie of the Week during the weeks of January 15th and February 19th, 2018. In our last two seasons, our team won 19 games and had two playoff berths.

In high school, I was a 3-year varsity starter at Danbury High School in Danbury CT, leading the squad to its first Conference Championship berth in 20 years in my junior year. During this campaign, I received 1st Team All-Conference and 2nd team All-State honors. My senior year was hampered by an ankle injury early on, however, I was still able to take home 2nd Team All-Conference honors and lead the squad to an upset over the #1 ranked team in the state playoffs, Notre Dame-West Haven, a team that featured current Boston Celtics point guard Tremont Waters.

Sessions are tailored to the athlete depending on their position, age, skill set, or goals. Each lesson will be player-specific. I will ask my clients what they most want to work on each session so they can critically think about what they need most to improve their game. Sessions are designed to address a player's weaknesses, learn and practice proper mechanics, and develop muscle memory by working reps at game speed. The drills that we practice are tailored specifically to transfer into 5v5 basketball to take your game to the next level.

A typical workout session includes but is not limited to:

-Starting with Dynamic Warmup and stretching
- Various dribbling drills
-Shooting and layup drills (form shooting, spot-up shooting, Mikans)
-Post up moves (jump hooks, faceup drives, up and under)
-Practicing getting open (V cut, Iverson cut, creating separation)
-Combo drills (dribble pull-ups, rip thru drives, floaters)
-Transition into King of the Court/ 3 dribble max 1v1
-Finish with free throws and cool down stretching

Client Reviews

Working with Marcus was great. Our workout was varied and I felt like with each exercise I was adding to my game. Marcus is super patient. When I had trouble picking up a concept, he took the time to breakdown the steps. I’d highly recommend him as an awesome coach.
