More About Coach Manuel
Just relocated from Denver Colorado. Worked for Lifetime Athletic in Centennial Colorado as a tennis teaching instructor for kids, teenagers and adults. Concentrated mostly on one on one private lessons. In addition I also worked part time at Denver Country Club in Denver with mostly private lessons for adults. I had my certification as a P1 instructor.
I came to the United States from Mexico City on a tennis scholarship in 1989.
I played tennis for Coronado High School in El Paso, Texas, winning the singles team and doubles team 5A State Tennis Championships. Afterwards, I earned a tennis scholarship to play at Odessa Junior College for two years achieving a national ranking of 22 in singles and 6 in doubles at the collegiate level. I also played for Florida Community College in Jacksonville achieving a national ranking of 17 in singles. While in college, I also played in the European circuit in France for a summer.
I completed my college tennis career at Metropolitan State College in Denver winning the (RMAC) Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in my last year with a record 20 – 1 in singles and 22 – 2 in doubles. After graduation, I assisted the men’s and women’s tennis teams at the University.
I joined the USTA 5.0 intermountain league and reached the semifinals at nationals in Palm Springs, California. After the 5.0 season I was bumped to a 5.5 level by the USTA intermountain.
I have been a Tennis Teaching Professional at the Denver Country Club for 9 years. I also taught adults groups at Crestmoor Tennis Club. I specialize in teaching individuals of all ages. I love the mental aspect of the game and it’s history and enjoy seeing the improvement and development of my students.
Depending on the level of the student, I start with a warmup to make sure the student gets good focus on the ball. Furthermore I concentrate on proper technique, footwork and consistency. I try to keep feeding balls to a minimum, I like playing/hitting with the student so they can get an actual ball coming at them.
