More About Coach Madison

I have experience coaching kids ranging from age 6 to age 18. During my high school career, I worked at a clinic every Sunday training children from ages 6-14 on all skill ranges. In these clinics I worked with the kids on shot form, dribbling skills, passing skills, defensive tactics, etc.. After graduating high school, I spent my Christmas and long weekend breaks assistant coaching my old high school team. During these practices, I led drills and skills training as well as the team lift. I also participated playing full against the first string to provide challenges and new ideas to the team.

As a basketball player in high school I achieved many of my goals playing a combined 9 months a year between AAU and high school ball. I was a four year starter on the varsity team, I earned MVP awards at 4 different tournaments my junior and senior year, including one in the state finals. My team and I were 4 time Western Massachusetts Division 2 (freshman year) and 3 (sophomore, junior, senior year) Champions, competed in 4 state semi-final games, and 3 state final games. On my AAU team, my team and I won numerous championships, competed in the Disney tournament of champions, and many other invitationals.

A client can expect a very personalized session. If a client is new to the sport we will spend a majority of the time working on the basics such as dribbling, passing, shooting form, and layups. If a client is looking to increase their level of play and they already have the basic skills down, we will focus more on the technical skills such as dribbling moves, floaters and step-backs, unanticipated passing, etc. Every session for every player will contain a foul shooting session as this skill is something that will win games in crunch time and should be a 100% muscle memory exercise. Each session will depend on the skill level of the client and whether the client is a post player or a guard.

Madison made my daughter feel very comfortable, which was very important as she is a beginner. She is looking forward to future lessons from Madison which is really important for my daughter to build her confidence. Madison was able to establish a good rapport and was able to walk through the basics while providing the appropriate level of encouragement. Delighted with the fit.

I have been privileged to coach Madi for four years of high school basketball. She is an outstanding basketball player and even a better person. Madi was our captain and leader for her senior season and was an excellent leader for our team on and off the court. She was always very respectful and well respected and liked by the administration, teachers, students, coaches and players, an extremely hard worker, and very mature for her age. During Madi's time in the program, we won four straight Western Mass. sectional titles, and made it to the state finals three years. Madi was always a huge part of our success with her adept play, extremely high basketball IQ, and leadership on and off the court. During her senior season we had a number of younger players on the team who looked up to Madi as an important role model for them and utilized her knowledge for one on one skill sessions. Madi also served as a mentor/coach for our Lil' Canes program where she worked with kids age 4-14 to develop skills and basketball IQ. I was able to watch her develop kids of all skills and ages into competitive, skilled players. I have been coaching boys and girls basketball for over 25 years and can count on my hand the number of athletes that are as well rounded as Madi is. She certainly is in that top five. It is without reservation and with the utmost confidence that I recommend Madi for consideration for your coaching sessions.
