More About Coach Luka
Head Coach and Founder of The Soccer Lab — structured player development for ambitious youth soccer players ages 8–16 in Carlsbad and North County San Diego.
Every player I work with starts with a 45-minute evaluation. I identify the single highest-impact development priority — first touch, weak foot, scanning, body shape, or game decision-making — and build a plan around it. The Snapshot system documents every step: what we identified, what we worked on, what improved, what’s next. Parents don’t guess whether training is working. They see it.
CREDENTIALS

WHAT I BRING TO EVERY SESSION
Technical precision. Tactical awareness. Game-realistic scenarios. I demonstrate every technique at the level I expect players to execute — not just explain it.
WHAT YOU GET
75-minute sessions (not the standard 60). The Snapshot system documents every session and every 8-session block. Home Protocol to reinforce work between sessions.
NEXT STEP
Book a 45-minute evaluation to start.
ATHLETIC HIGHLIGHTS
Trained from age 7 in Serbia's youth soccer system — one of Europe's most demanding developmental environments. Continued my playing career with top Southern California programs: Surf Soccer Club, West Coast FC Premier, and Mission Viejo High School.
CLUB ACHIEVEMENTS
National Cup Champion — 2009, 2010, 2012
Far West Regional Champion — 2010
U.S. National Ranking — #2 (2010)
COLLEGIATE CAREER
NCAA Division II athletic scholarship — Cal State San Marcos (2012-2016)
15 goals, 27 assists across four seasons
The work I bring to every private session is grounded in what actually produces players at the highest levels — not theory, not generic drills. Players I coach see the same standards I was held to.
SESSION PROTOCOLS
Every player starts with a 45-minute evaluation. From there, ongoing development happens in 75-minute private sessions.
EVALUATION SESSION (45 MIN)
Dynamic Warm-Up (5 min)
Technical Evaluation (20 min) — ball mastery, first touch, passing, weak foot, finishing
Soccer IQ Evaluation (15 min) — 1v1 scenarios, scanning, decision-making, body orientation
Debrief + Home Protocol (5 min) — what I saw, what to work on, next steps
Parents receive a written Snapshot the same day, plus a clear recommendation for the right training path.
PRIVATE TRAINING SESSION (75 MIN)
Ongoing sessions are 75 minutes — longer than standard — because real work takes time. Every session is built around the player’s diagnosed development priorities from the evaluation.
A typical session flows through:
• Dynamic warm-up and ball mastery
• Core technical work on the player’s current priorities (first touch direction, weak foot, body shape, finishing, whatever the diagnosis calls for)
• Game-realistic reps — 1v1 duels, finishing drills, live pressure from the coach
• A focus block that flexes based on what the player needs that day
• A competitive finish to close with intent
Sessions don’t always run in that exact order. Some days are heavier on technical work. Some days are heavier on game-speed application. It depends on what the player needs that day.
WHAT PARENTS GET AFTER EVERY SESSION
A written Snapshot delivered the same day — what was worked on, what improved, what’s next.
A Home Protocol so the player trains between sessions.
Every 8 sessions produces a measured progress review showing how the player has developed across the full block.
AGE-BASED EMPHASIS
Younger athletes (8–11): Repetition, fundamentals, confidence through mastery.
Older athletes (12–16): Speed of play, game awareness, technical refinement under pressure.

Coach Luka has been working with our 7 year old son for 3 sessions and we've already noticed a huge improvement in his all around game! Coach Luka prepares outstanding drills and really coaches throughout each session with reminders, solid instruction, and honest and specific feedback. We will continue to work with Coach Luka and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for one-on-one coaching!

We were very happy with our first session with Coach Luka. He really inspired my 13-year old daughter with new techniques that she was able to use immediately in her games. Looking forward to more sessions!

Coach Luka is patient and willing to change direction when something is not working. He provides strong feedback "let's do one more and then we get water" when necessary to encourage a player to be persistent and build grit. He is a skilled collegiate player and has a future as a coach.
Roberto (CoachUp client)
Coach Luka is dynamic, energetic, knowledgeable and truly understands the game of soccer, the technique, and the best way to engage. Our son Luca thoroughly enjoyed his session with Coach Luka, and cannot wait to have another session. We look forward to ongoing session and improvement with Luca's game.
Robert (CoachUp client)
Energetic, passionate, and extremely professional, Luka made great progress with both of my boys (age 16 and 8) in just one, short, 75 min session. Would definitely recommend Luka to anyone looking to improve their game.
Rocco (CoachUp client)
Luka knows the game of soccer very well and his training in the area of technical skills is top notch. He has had an impact on my sons game after just two sessions and we intend to keep working with him. Our son is really learning how to play correctly and also enjoys the work outs. I would also mention that Luka is patient and makes his sessions fun!

Coach Luka was great. He is age appropriate for my 13 year old daughter. He kept the session at a good pace, while making sure she understood what was being taught. More sessions with him will help my daughter improve!
Paul (CoachUp client)
My daughter had her 1st session with Coach Luka today and I'll quote her first. "I like Coach Luka. He's fun, encouraging, positive and funny". Never thought I'd ever hear that come out of her mouth so I'm pleasantly surprised. Coach Luka was amiable and approachable. Communication was great. Coach Luka was a recommendation and I would definitely reccomend him to others and those that I know on the soccer community.

Coach Luka is the best coach that our son has had in the last five years. He is patient, talented and extremely effective. After just a few training sessions, our son improved on his footwork, ball handling skills, scoring tactics, and endurance. He was moved up a level and qualified for two of San Diego's top U14 soccer teams. Luka communicated well with the kids and was very good at assessing their areas for improvement. He uses positive reinforcement and a diverse set of drills as part of his training. He is amazing as a coach.
Guy (CoachUp client)
This was our first experience with CoachUp. Luka showed up on time at the field, had equipment, was charismatic and had a plan. The boys responded favorably to him and had a good workout. Very positive experience for the two BU14s, and hope to have more sessions with him soon.
Christy (CoachUp client)
Great coach! It was my daughters (8) first session today. She truly enjoyed herself. My husband said the coach was polite, engaging and encouraging. Our daughter walked away from her first session feel encouraged and gaining new skills! We look forward to future sessions!
Renae (CoachUp client)
Coach Luka is a very engaging coach. My daughter enjoyed his fast pace session very much and he worked very hard to not only train and teach, but to make it fun! He is easy to work with, knowledgeable and is not afraid to get involved in the training. This was our first session, but we will continue working with coach Luka and look forward to the development of our daughter's soccer skill and speed.
Nikola Cucuk / Coach (Testimonial)
Coach Luka is a very fast pace, involved coach who pushed his players to their limits. I really enjoy his style of coaching where all the drills are intense, demanding, and done with speed. As he is an exceptional soccer player he will show athletes how drills, technique, and movement off the ball are done at the high level and push his athletes to reach another level. He brings out the energy and passion for soccer in every player and he always incorporates it with fun, competitive drills.
