More About Coach Lester

*5 years-- Professional Baseball at Minor League level. Was assistant coach, catching coach under manager, former 12 year major leaguer, Pete Incaviglia.
*8 years-- High School Varsity/College Summer programs.
*10 years + --Youth/select teams at many age levels
*Catching coach at many player/coaching clinics.
*Knowledge of catching started with my dad who was 8 year professional player and then learning from many major and minor league coaches and players. Catching has been a lifelong passion for me as a player and coach. My hitting philosophies mirror that of major league baseball's top hitting instructor, Rudy Jaramillo, whom I've been fortunate to learn much from. I love sharing and passing that knowledge on to young players and watching them grow.
*Professional Player Agent, have represented multiple minor and major league players

*Was multi-sport athlete through high school, but baseball was always a priority.
*College Baseball at Texas Wesleyan University, at the time an elite college program that had 14 players drafted during my 4 years.

I highly recommend multiple sessions, whether it be catching or hitting. Baseball is a repetition sport and you will probably not get what you need from one session for catching or hitting. Defensively, catching is a highly specialized position and you have to be good at every phase. We start with a meeting, by phone or in person, and develop an individual game plan based on your requests/goals, age and level.

My goal is to give you a fundamental base in catching or hitting that you can use now and throughout your baseball career. Know that catchers throwing and blocking skills will be a heavy emphasis. If you can throw out runners and keep the ball in front of you, you are a great asset to your team, at every level. Drills, which have been developed and utilized at a professional level, but can be used for all ages, will be part of every session. You will learn something new and work on something already learned, especially weaknesses, every session. I won't just tell you how to do things, I will show you. You will be provided a purpose and reasoning for every thing learned. There will be lots of repetitions, which is the only way to make you the best player possible. Just having the knowledge is not enough. Repetition allows you the muscle memory to do things in a game and not have to think about it. Being a ballplayer is a wonderful thing, but being respected by your teammates and coaches while being feared by your opponents is a beautiful thing. So our goal- work smart, work hard, repeat.

Client Reviews

Coach Lester started straight from the basics and was detailed in mechanics. I look forward to my son progressing in his abilities.

Ciach Lester is very knowledgeable and detailed as a catching coach.

My son (turning 12) really enjoyed his first lesson with Coach Lester. I don’t think he realized how much he was going to learn the first day.
The sign of a good coach/instructor, in my opinion, is someone who can be a good communicator of their material (the how & why) , with an even balance of encouragement, yet steady expectation (the doing).
We look forward to more lessons with Coach Lester.

Had a great first session with Coach Lester. He is very patient with my son and provides great info and critique. He has been very flexible with our schedule. Looking forward to many more sessions with him!!

Coach Lester is an amazing coach and most importantly he is an educator. He focuses on the "why" behind the "what", and really helped my son understand where his catching mechanics were failing him. After just one lesson, he was able to pinpoint major changes to my son's mechanics that have already made a huge difference in his approach to his position. I especially appreciate his demeanor and patience with my young player. I would absolutely recommend Coach Lester to anyone who has a boy who wants to be a great catcher!

Coach Lester is a great coach. After one session I fell like a different athlete. His training and technique is amazing. I would recomend Coach Lester.
George.

Just had our first lesson with Coach Lester. His simple approach to hitting has already had an impact on my son's batting. He has a wealth of knowledge and is a great teacher of the game. Definitely going back.

Coach is knowledgeable, encouraging, and has helped our son improve at catcher! He works very well w our 12 year old and we are grateful for his insights.

Fantastic knowledge and patience with my 8year old who is somewhat new to catching.

Couldn’t be happier with our decision to work with Coach Lester

Coach Lester is a great catching instructor. My son is 11, and Coach Lester treated him like the most important player he coaches. Besides the fact the sessions are tremendously helpful, and the drills are usable at home and practice, my son loves it. The point is to have fun playing baseball and Coach Lester makes it fun while he improves the player.

Update- 6-21-2018

What a great season! I cannot overstate the impact coach Lester had on my son. He went from being a “tough little catcher” to the most technically sound catcher in the league, and in the tournaments we played. After every game the opposing coaches singled out my son to tell him he played great. He was also chosen as the starting catcher on the All-Star team as an 11 year old. The leaps and bounds behind the plate are 100% attributable to Coach Lester. We are taking a break for the rest of the summer , but will be back with coach in the Fall.

Coach Lester has a keen eye to flaws in a swing. It took just one session to locate the flaw in my son's swing and find a fix. Showed great improvement the next game. Very patient and thorough explanations.

Coach Lester is awesome! He is extremely patient and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

Incredible coach with great skill teaching. He was extremely nice and very patient with my son!

Thank you Coach!

We have had one session with Coach Lester. He was patient and encouraging. My son is 9 years old and was excited about what he learned and is eager for future lessons.

Coach Lester has been a great find for us. Baseball flows through his veins, and he communicates that well to the student. I would recommend him for any level of coaching.

It was a pleasure meeting and watching Coach Lester work with my son. He is obviously passionate about the sport and loves coaching. We are looking forward to working more with Coach Lester. Can't wait to see what a difference he makes working with my son. Keep up the great work!

This was our first experience with Coach up and a private coaching session in general. Beyond happy. I think I learned as much as my son did. We look forward to future sessions.

For my youth player camps, I have to be comfortable that kids are getting the quality instruction at the highest level. That is why I have Lester as my go-to catching coach. As a former major league player, I know when a coach has the right information and how to transfer that information in a way that kids can absorb it and implement it. Although most of my coaches are former major league players, Lester doesn't need that distinction. His information is the same, but he knows how to convey it at the highest level.
Lester was a valuable asset to our team as an assistant coach and specifically as our catching coach. His knowledge of catching and ability to motivate players to work harder was a big part of our success. Although our catchers were all experienced minor league players from major league organizations, Lester had the knowledge and ability to make them better, work harder and perform at the top of their game.
After college, I was disappointed I wasn't drafted but fortunate I was good enough to play professionally at the Independent level. It took me three years to get signed with a major league team and I credit a lot that to my catching coach, Lester Bedford. His knowledge and hands on work with me made me a complete catcher and led to me signing with the Baltimore Orioles and eventually the Pittsburgh Pirates. I'm appreciative of the help he gave me towards realizing my dream of playing in a MLB organization.
