More About Coach Leisha

I have 5 years of coaching and training experience in basketball and have 5 years of collegiate basketball experience. I played Division II basketball (RMAC) at Colorado Christian University through 2017. I have coached for Colorado Premeir girls basketball for a little over a year before entering into my final season at CCU. In 2015, I received my personal training certificate through ISSA and have trained athletes since 2014 in a variety of areas to help sports performance.
After my final season I became a Sports Performance Specialist at a training facility and am responsible for training 7-18 year old athletes of all sports in sports specific movements to increase the athlete's speed, agility, power, mechanics, weight training, and stability. I am still the SPS at the training facility and continue to create a variety of variations of drill work for speed and agility to help the athlete optimize their performance in their sport.

Was a multi sport athlete in high school making All-State my senior year in soccer and making a run to state my senior year in basketball. I received all conference player of the year in basketball my junior and senior year, leading our school records in assists, rebounds, points, and steals.
In college I received scholarship to play and made the conference tournament in my 3 years at Colorado Christian University, winning RMAC my redshirt year. I have led my team as both a captain and a chaplain 3 years of my collegiate career.

All my sessions will be programmed to fit the skill structure and goals of my client.
All sessions will begin with warm-up which includes, mobility of joints, dynamic stretching, and sports specific movements that will compliment our focus of the day.
Next if the athlete is just focused on sport such as basketball I will use the remaining time of the session to cover fundamentals including instruction on mechanics followed by drill work. For example with a basketball player workout may breakdown like this:
15 minute warmup (mobility, muscle activation, movement prep)
15 minutes on ball handling
15 minutes on shooting mechanics
15 minutes on drill work incorporating the two focuses of the day.

If an athlete is more geared toward enhancing their all-around performance, I would incorporate speed and agility training, and if interested develop a weight training program for the athlete. In this scenario a session would consist of:
10-15 min warm up: (mobility, muscle activation, movement prep)
20 min speed and agility training on a specific movement (first step acceleration, change of direction, mechanics of lateral movement, running mechanics, ect)
30min: of sport specific training which would include basic fundamentals and skill work.
(if weight training included sessions would extend 30min of foundational strength programming based on the athletes assessment and needs analysis)
