More About Coach Leah

I graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a major in Exercise and Sport Science and a minor in Coaching Education. I have coached athletes of all ages ranging between 4 and 23 years old for about 8 years. I have helped many travel softball teams and coaches develop practice plans with new drills to improve their skillset. I have a special interest in slapping and strength and conditioning. I am a certified strength and conditioning specialist who loves working with athletes to become stronger, faster and more agile on the field. I currently am a doctorate of physical therapy student at Nova Southeastern University and I love to work with all ages and levels of softball players to coach specific skills as well as appropriately teach proper mechanics to mitigate risk for injury.

I played collegiate softball at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2015-2019). In college, I was a four year starter playing many different positions. I was fortunate enough to have opportunities both in the infield and the outfield at the collegiate level, with experience at right field, left field, first base and second base; essentially covering all major positions (other than pitcher and catcher). My senior year (2019) I broke the career stolen base record with a total of 105 and led the team in many other offensive categories. In my four years, I also was an NFCA Academic All-American, 2x- All ACC Performer, and a Leader of Distinction from the Richard A. Baddour Leadership Academy.

Every athlete of mine will be provided with a FREE theraband and instructed on proper pregame arm care exercises. I typically like to structure the session (1 hour) into 4, 15 minute minute sections. Depending on the athlete and their specific goals, I like to always start with some quick speed and agility training. This will serve as a warm-up for the rest of the lesson as well as incorporate aspects of sprinting, cutting, and change of direction needed for competition. The next 30 minutes I like to run a fast paced, yet effective, training session that will isolate specifically what we are targeting to improve (slapping, infield, outfield, base running, etc). The last 15 minutes, I try to put the athlete in a realistic game like environment where they can practice not only their skills we just worked on, but also their mental game needed to succeed in competition. I also like to demonstrate by showing rather than just lecturing them on the correct form. I strongly believe that it is easier to learn when you have someone to model after in terms of technique.

Client Reviews

I can’t say enough about Coach Leah and our first session today. She took my daughter under her wing to teach her the basics from scratch. She was engaging, instilled confidence, and is a complete natural. Friendly, professional - my daughter can’t wait for more, which is rare for her. Thanks so much.

Coach Leah has been working with my 2 girls this summer. They are enjoying working with her and having fun while learning

Coach Leah helps my 8 year old daughter improve her softball skills. She is patient, she explains her drills throughly, she is knowledgeable and is helping my daughter transition from coach pitch to kid pitch for 10u. It is very difficult to find a softball coach that really cares and wants to help the girls succeed and play to the best of their ability. I truly feel coach Leah is a gem and am extremely lucky to have her coach my daughter. My daughter loves her and counts the days until her next session! :)

Very knowledgeable and patient with my daughter. Highly recommended!

Leah did a great job connecting with our daughter. One star off for not discussing a recommended plan or what further instruction/ coaching she recommended

Leah helped my daughter improve her home to first time, bat speed, and accuracy with throwing. However, the list doesn't stop there, Leah was very knowledgeable about recruiting and was able to offer insight and advice throughout our process. Now my daughter has been offered a collegiate scholarship and we owe many thanks to Leah for all of her help throughout the years!
An amazing private lesson coach for my daughter. She helped to build her confidence and improve her skills offensively and defensively. She found a way to really connect to my daughter who is typically pretty shy and reserved. I highly recommend Leah to anyone looking for some individualized help with their softball skills.
