Our trainer, Lashell Swann has been playing team basketball for over 25 years. From an All-star player in boys and girls club, to an elite high school basketball and college player, as well as Assistant Coach, Head Coach, and Program Director for youth Basketball programs.
Some career credits include leading her team to the first Women's basketball regional finals in Maryland's Suitland High School history in 1994. Next, considered the "go to" player at Prince George's Community College, Lashell averaged 18 points and 8 rebounds per game as a point guard, shooting guard, and small forward throughout her pre-collegiate career. She was also offered a full scholarship to Uconn, one of the leading women's collegiate basketball programs of the time but decided to stay close to home wherein the following season Lashell was recruited by the renowned Howard University and The University of the District of Columbia, of which she chose the latter.
As a small forward and shooting guard Lashell has acquired the knowledge and skill set to play with the best of them and is well known for her extensive and elusive ball handling skills, nicknamed Supershell by her college teamates based on her exceptional game play. She excelled in all sports at the University of the District of Columbia Including track, tennis, volleyball, swim team, and even soccer, but her true passion is basketball of which she received a full scholarship for 4 years.
After graduating from college with a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and an Associates degree in Community Policing, Lashell went on to coach various basketball teams in the Washington Metropolitan area. She has had a very successful career as an assistant coach, head coach, then Program Director for District Heights Boys and Girls Club as well her AAU program 'Maryland Lady Phenoms'. At the height of her position at DH Boys & Girls Club Lashell decided to "take her talents to south beach" as Lebron would say, bringing her program to the west coast to spread elite level of basketball training across the country.
My goal is to help the participant train to be the best basketball player they can be by developing and increasing individual basketball skills, confidence, and overall understanding of the game.
Phenom Fundamentals basketball Training will teach all aspects of Shooting Mechanics, Jab Step Series, Dribble Separation, Weak Hand Development, Finishing, Advanced Dribble Scoring Methods, Moving Without the Ball, Post and Perimeter Work, 2 and 3 Man Game, Triple Threat Separation, Footwork, Seeing the Floor, Conditioning, Defensive Work, Team Chemistry, Leadership, Basketball IQ, and much more.
Each player or group receives a specifically designed program based on his/her/their abilities, desires, and experience. We are prepared to cover every aspect of the game. Our workouts are designed to replicate the pressure of game speed situations and assist in the execution of basic and advanced fundamentals under that pressure.
Each session is individually scheduled based on the participants personal schedule. We will develop a program based on the participants input or simply prepare the training session(s) from our own experiences with the age level of the individual or group.
Sessions lasts 60 to 120 minutes and the player or group may register for as few or as many as they desire; although at least 10 sessions are recommended to ensure the necessary time needed for the player(s) to understand, develop, and improve their skill set.
