Lance Niekro

I have been coaching at Florida Southern college for 10 years, while being the head coach for the last eight years. I primarily work with infielders and hitters, but also have experience with pitchers, catchers and outfielders. As a player I primarily played third and first base but also pitched for one year. Due to NCAA rules, I will only be allowed to work with kids 8th grade or younger.

I played college baseball at Florida Southern in 1999 and 2000. I was a second round draft pick by the San Francisco Giants in 2000. I played in the Giants organization for 8 years, with three of those years being in the Major Leagues. In addition to playing professionally my dad and uncle also played professional baseball for over 20 years each. I have been around baseball my entire life and have learned many things that I am eager to pass on to youth players.

Lessons will be limited to 30 minutes each. I feel this is an adequate time to teach valuable lessons. Anything longer and the attention span starts to diminish and bad habits can be created. Each lesson will consist of one skill (i.e. hitting, fielding, pitching, etc.). The skill can be determined by the child prior to the lesson. A lesson will consist of physical training as well as the mental side of baseball.
