More About Coach Kevin

I have been training since I finished playing D1 collegially. I graduated and proceeded to teach everything I knew to one freshman and turned him into the number one player in Houston class of 2018 Jesse Zarzuela Spring Woods HS who currently is my best player who plays at the University of Oregon. Now I also have been developing Christian Gibson Maydee Creek HS for yrs and he is currently the top sophmore in Houston with D1 offers and interests form UofH already. Along with top freshman Trey Pinkard and countless other successful clients I have that have went on to play at other D1 schools. I have also trained pros like Aaron Harrison and his brother Andrew Harrison Kentucky basketball legends and ex NBA players. Houston legend ex Indiana Pacer Jo Young who fought me on his hand placement on his shot for a while finally changed it and started shooting like Steph Curry out in China lol. I have been working with overseas pros like Jaylen Riley highly successful winning overseas pointgaurd. I have also helped countless other players my friend just recently told me about coach up so I joined :) I like working with any age group as long as they can focus and comprehend the details within the workout that we are focusing on.

I lacked confidence as a kid growing up. I was pretty good just struggled to show it due to my lack of confidence and lack of knowledge and understanding that I’ve acquired now. Now I choose a career path to be the person I wish I would have had growing up. The psychology is just as important as the skill. I didn’t have my first 50+ point games til I turned 21yrs old in summer pro-am showcases once I had both the skill, understanding and psychology to be amazing I had a back injury the summer I was going to turn pro so I decided to keep just pouring into the next generation instead of pursuing my own pro career due to injury. God worked everything out that way for a reason :)

Two things I’ve noticed separate people is self discipline and self awareness. I can tell you what’s wrong but if you don’t have those two things players rate of improvement depends on those. I’ve had players go from average to really amazing in short amounts of time because they make changes and are aware of what I am asking and I’ve had others where we have to work on there shooting mechanics for weeks because they just won’t be aware and discipline their shots and continue to do bad habits. I’ve seen it all but the best players take the criticism and apply the changes almost instantly. I put them through a simple test seeing all there basic movements/shots/finishes. I can tell very quickly what has to be fixed to become good really fast and have a ton of info to pour into people during workouts. The foundation/ fundamental details is what truly makes a player great along with putting the raw skill into the where when and how with no wasted dribbles and more just reading the defense and all I stress most is efficiency we don’t waste time on fancy drill work but only what works. I do not train every client the same but based on their needs. However I do work on every fundamental movement no matter pro level or beginner for maximizing the number one aspect of all training which is your ability to make shots at a high clip along with the ability to get to the rim at will and rely on your post game no matter your size. Body positioning and understanding how to use your frame is EVERYTHING you will not always be the fastest and strongest but working with me you will be the smartest. When guys play good defense at a high level you just aren’t going to get blow by layups at will you have to have post game understand how to use your body and the ability to change pace to create shots for yourself or teammates. Basketball is really a whole language most don’t understand and the training game is like the rap game watered down. If you want real results hmu :)

Client Reviews

Best in the business. He really teaches the game simply and effectively to make you a prolific scorer and playmaker. By far most basketball knowledge I’ve ever seen in a single person. If you have NBA aspirations come to him. He may not look the part but never judge a book by its cover. Very professional and also will Pray with you :)
