More About Coach Kevin

I am a dedicated professional with more than a decade of teaching experience and an intense love of the game. I most recently spent several years (Fall/Winter/Spring seasons) working at Williams Island Tennis Club, an exclusive club in Aventura, (Miami) Florida. These past two summers I worked at Buck Hill Falls, a beautiful country club in the Poconos. In early 2010 I worked with Matias Polonsky (former ATP player and WTA coach) to develop an afternoon and weekend juniors' program (beginners through highly ranked competitive players) at the Doral Country Club before leaving for the Hamptons where I was Director of Junior Tennis at Devon Yacht Club in Amagansett, N.Y..

As a junior I was a sectionally ranked player (#4) in the eastern section of the USTA and traveled the country on the national circuit where I garnered wins over players who would become world top twenty players. Subsequently I went on to play four years of varsity tennis and squash at a ‘Division I’ university (Fordham) attending on a full athletic scholarship.

I have dedicated many years to professional instruction of the game and had the good fortune to have learned from and worked for two of the best; the late John Nogrady, a former tour player and respected tennis pro in the New York area and Harry Hopman, renowned coach of the Australian Davis Cup Team . I spent a decade living and working in Spain and became thoroughly versed in many of the modern training techniques developed and popularized by William "Pato" Alvarez (founder of the Sanchez-Casals Academy) that have taken so many Spanish and spanish-trained players to the top of today's professional game. Although my career (and my passion I might add) has been largely based on working with young people, in addition to having worked with thousands of juniors over the years I still give 10-15 hours of adult private lessons and clinics a week as well as having spent over the years a considerable amount of time dedicated to the organization of competitive and social events for adults. Still, what I find most gratifying is to observe a young player's progress over a period of many years, knowing that I have been an integral part of his development both as a player and a person.

Ranked junior player on the national circuit.
Division I college player.
Four years at # 1 singles position. Three years MVP.
17-1 record in Senior Year.

Based on a variety of factors such as skill level, age and the individual's goals, a typical lesson might consist of anything from stroke production to implementation of a
wide assortment of drills based on classical training methods and the contemporary Spanish method, court strategy, or mental and/or physical conditioning.
