More About Coach Kevin

I am one of the head ice hockey and skating instructors at the LA Kings Valley Ice Center. I help coach and run the King’s In-House and Learn to Play Hockey programs. I teach power skating, puck handling, passing and game awareness through consistent repetition, scrimmages, as well as on and off the ice conditioning drills. Aside from our house programs, my private lessons are aimed towards developing young players within their respective In-House and AAA travel leagues. I also teach beginner to advanced level adults. I am I.S.I, U.S.A Hockey insured and certified. I am employed as an ice hockey and skating instructor in affiliate with the L.A. Kings ice hockey association. NHL.

15 years of M.B.H.L . AAA Metropolitan Boston Hockey League experience
Division 1 High School Ice Hockey. 4 yr. Boston. class of 01'
Super 8 Finalist 1998 and 1999

Any client I work with can expect a full student assessment. From our first meeting, I will evaluate the level and skating ability of the player. Once I have determined the player's level of skill set, I can then decide what primary hockey or skating fundamentals the player may be lacking and needs my help to improve upon. In my opinion, as a player and coach, the best hockey players are the best skaters. With that being said, I am an adamant fan of skating and conditioning drills. Circle drills forwards and backwards, horizontal and lateral skating drills between blue lines. Basically, any skating regiment which teaches a young player to be as light and quick on his/her feet as possible is always a main focus point in my coaching. It is imperative for young players to develop a precision of balance and control on their skates, so as to never be caught flat footed or standing still on the ice. The best goal scorer's are always in motion, always circling the play, even without the puck. A skater who is both balanced and light on their feet, is already well adapted to ice hockey's stop-n-go gameplay and the puck's ability to change direction on a dime.

Kevin was an awesome coach, training was top class!

Kevin is excellent. He has great drills and is extremely knowledgable of how to teach hockey at any level. I was very happy with my lesson. Highly recommend him.

Great coach in whatever you want to improve on in hockey! Runs great drills to improve and teach skating, and very supportive. Great with kids of all ages and super kind. Would definitely recommend for any hockey based improvement you need.
