Jeff Hamill (Testimonial)
To whom it may concern: It is with an enormous level of confidence and enthusiasm that I write this letter endorsing Kevin George as a candidate for your High School basketball coaching position. Kevin entered our lives in the 2010/11 season as the coach of the Darien 7th grade travel A team. At that time he inherited a team with a .500 overall record from the previous year, but with no wins within their league. Kevin immediately instilled a discipline with the boys based on conditioning and fundamental basketball. The team full of strong athletes but no stars played every game with a focus on defensive intensity and full speed play. The results were dramatic as the team finished 22-1 and won the Fairfield County Basketball Championship. The bond between Kevin and the kids was extraordinary and they believed in themselves because of him. We felt so strongly about Kevin as a person and a coach that we fought to have him lead the team again in the 2011/12 season as 8th graders. As returning champions the dynamics of the team were different and the schedule was significantly tougher. Kevin was able to show the kids how to work through some adversity with hard work and dedication. The team repeated as Fairfield County Champions. I was one of the numerous team Dads that have a basketball background and unanimously we are all in agreement that Kevin is the best youth coach any of us have experienced. He taught the game and its nuances properly. He was demanding but supportive, creating a strong bond between the boys and with him. His in game adjustments were accurate and effective. He taught our boys how to win. They loved him for it and any high school would be lucky to have him leading their program. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any more help. Sincerely, Jeff Hamill
Brian Rolapp (Testimonial)
To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to endorse and support Kevin George as a candidate for your vacant High School basketball coaching vacancy. Kevin is not only a skilled and capable teacher of the game of basketball, but also, and perhaps more importantly, is an honest and honorable individual. I have no doubt that he will be an outstanding coach at the High School level. Kevin has been my son’s coach for the past two seasons in the competitive Fairfield County travel basketball league. This same team had been intact since the fifth grade and, before Kevin’s arrival, hovered around .500 seasons, never really breaking through competitively. Once Kevin took the helm, the results were much different. In both years, the team won 20 plus games and won the County championship, excelling both offensively and defensively. Given that such a dramatic turnaround was achieved with essentially the same team roster from previous years is a testament to Kevin’s capabilities as a Head Coach. However, it was not the wins themselves that proved to be most impressive, but how they were achieved that has struck me the most. Kevin taught the boys not only the fundamentals of basketball, but also the discipline and hard work required to achieve success. The hallmark of the team became hustle, aggressiveness, and effort, enabling them to defeat many teams with better and deeper talent. My experience with Kevin was not limited to his work with my son’s team. He also worked individually with my son during the fall as Drew looked to sharpen his basketball skills. Several times a week, Kevin drilled Drew individually in ball handling, shooting, conditioning and other key aspects of the game. Drew progressed significantly by working with Kevin, further showing that Kevin has the ability not only to maximize results through team play, but also through individual skill development. Any High School would benefit immensely from having Kevin and I enthusiastically endorse him. Should you have any questions or further requests please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Brian Rolapp
