More About Coach Kevin

I have been involved with fitness and athletic training for over 30 years, including over 9 years in the martial arts, 4.5 years as a serious long distance runner, long distance cyclist and mountain biker. I have been certified as a personal trainer since May of 2014 with NASM and with NAASFP as a marathon coach. I specialize working with men ages 50 - 70 but also work with elementary school, high school and over 80.

I trained for, planned and executed a multi-day 180 mile, unsupported cycling trip. As a moderately competitive runner I finish near the top of my age group and between the top 14-23% of all finishers. I took 3rd place in my age group at the Detroit Half Marathon.

I work the whole body, mind and spirit. I use multi-planar strength and resistance methodologies to help my clients get and/or maintain current fitness levels. As a cardio fitness specialist, I use heart rate based training to help my clients hit their aerobic and non-aerobic fitness goals. I keep my training geared towards functionally beneficial outcomes. Depending on client level I use HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) such as circuits and TABATA. I also include MMA when appropriate.

I remember telling him that I wanted a fitness goal to motivate me and he came up with the idea that I should run a half-marathon. He understood that I needed something big to get me going. Since that day he has been with me along every step of my running history. He worked with me through injury, encouraged me on hard runs and has been an inspiration for me through it all. He kept things fresh and exciting and he knew when to mix the training up, doing something a little different to keep me on my toes. He knows how to keep the right balance between coach and partner. Kevin had the capability to make me feel confident in my potential to reach my goals and it is probably because he truly believes in me. I've been running for about a year now. Great, besides the fact that I had tremendous pain in my shins ;( Pain is no fun - and it made my dreams of running further and faster seem out of reach.
